All students wishing to retest must wait 5 workdays after their last test date, unless waived by an Admissions Counselor. A Testing Center Retest Eligibility Form is required from an Admissions Counselor. 2. Students can test twice at no charge. If a third attempt is necessary, a $25.00 fee is charged for each retest. 3. Students can retest on the ACCUPLACER placement test to place higher into any of the Reading, English, or Mathematics courses. What is ACCUPLACER®? ACCUPLACER is an important test for admissions to Central Carolina Technical College. Test questions are based on your responses. Questions will either increase or decrease in difficulty and in point value depending on how you respond. ACCUPLACER® Facts • There are approximately 20 multiple-choice questions per test: Reading Comprehension, Sentence Skills, Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra, and College Algebra. • There is no time limit for the test. It takes about 2.5 hours to complete. • The test results are immediate. • ACCUPLACER scores are valid for five years. Accommodations Testing accommodations are available for those who qualify. Getting Prepared PLATO® Courseware Try PLATO Courseware, an online learning program CCTC uses to help students prepare for the ACCUPLACER test. You will take a pretest for Reading, English and Math to determine your skill level. Then, you will work through lessons automatically prescribed based on your answers. Qualifying scores for ACT English or SAT Critical Reading or Revised SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing: ACT Math or SAT Math or revised SAT Math. Important: Your course placement in Math is determined by the most recent Assessment. • College transcripts including AP and CLEP/DSST Scores; send official transcripts to the Registrar’s Office • Accuplacer placement: Test scores are used if the above are not available or did not result in College-Level placement. Taking ACCUPLACER® After you have prepared to take the test, you will make a testing appointment using Testing Center Registration, or you may walk in to test. Testing Center Registration is available 24 hours for your convenience. Follow the simple instructions below to schedule your testing appointment. How to Register to Take the Test • Visit www.cctech.edu and click the “Testing Center Registration” button. • On the Exam Registration page click the campus for your test. • Under “Choose a Group” Select Placement Testing. • Under “Choose an Exam” Select ACCUPLACER. • Select a date. • Select a time. • Enter your name and email. • Read Exam Guideline Acknowledgement. • Agree to Guideline Acknowledgement. • Enter your phone number. • Select the Add to Cart Button. • On the next page Select Complete Registration.
