The MLK Scholarship was established to recognize and assist a USF student who best represents the ideals and philosophies
of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A student applying for this scholarship should include civic, volunteer and academic
accomplishments representing the student’s understanding and actions taken in supporting Dr. King’s teachings and
initiatives in an accompanying essay. The scholarship will be given to a current student who through the application process
demonstrates academic excellence, community spirit, and articulates their passion and desire to be a positive force at USF
and for the student body.
Amount awarded:
2 awards of $1000 per year, non-renewable
Award is payable in 1 installment of $1000 in spring semester
Selection Process:
Student applications are due Friday, December 4, 2015. A selection committee will review
applications and make a selection by January 13, 2016. An award presentation will be held
during the University’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration week. The scholarship recipient
will be requested to attend to accept their award.

Currently enrolled at USF Tampa as an undergraduate student
3.0 GPA – Transcript required (unofficial accepted)
Provide list of civic, volunteer and academic accomplishments
Essay that includes specific examples of how the applicant has furthered the goals of
Dr. King through education, community service and other opportunities. Essay should
be no longer than 2 typed pages
