Staley, of course, died in 2002 from a drug overdose. The singer is Mark Lanegan, former vocalist for the Screaming Trees. The choice makes sense, as Lanegan actually co-wrote two songs on Mad Season’s only album, Above. McCready only recently revealed the existence of the new material and his desire to record it. There is currently no solid timetable for the release of the songs however. Road Notez CHRIS HUPE Lamb of God have announced the cancellation of their tour with Dethlokk and Gojira, scheduled to begin this week. Lamb of God’s singer, Randy Blythe, is still being held in a prison in the Czech Republic on charges that include causing the death of a fan that jumped on stage during the band’s appearance in Prague in 2010. If you’d like to help out the Randy Blythe legal fund, check out their Facebook page or the many “Free Randy Blythe” pages that have popped up all over the internet. New Order have booked a U.S. tour for the first time since 2005. The English rock band reunited five years ago and is finally working on new material for a 2013 release. Catch a rare glimpse of New Order when they travel to the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago October 21, one of only seven stops on the tour. Nada Surf are still somewhat “Popular,” so they are planning a tour in support of their new album, The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy, released in January. Unfortunately, they too are only playing a small run of dates, but two of them are within driving distance of the Fort. Check them out at The Metro in Chicago December 8 or at The Basement in Columbus, Ohio the next day. Supertramp co-founder Roger Hodgson is heading out on the road with a four-piece band to sing songs from his Supertramp days, along with some solo material. Unfortunately again for us, Hodgson will only be visiting the vicinity for one date, August 24 in Blue Ash, Ohio, near Cincinnati. It should be a good show, though, if you can fork out the dough to the gas man for the drive there. If there was ever a band that would announce a tour featuring “the first-ever travelling 3D enhanced experience,” it would likely be a band like Primus. Though details have yet to be revealed, the tour will feature two sets and provide a one-of-a-kind psychedelic experience. Dates for the tour are expected to be announced very shortly.
