Celebrate with us as we open our 40th
Anniversary season in spectacular
fashion with A merican pianist
Simone Dinnerstein, described by
TIME magazine as having “arresting Dinnerstein
freshness and subtlety.” With an impressive career
that has taken her around the globe, and included
performances and recordings with some of the most
acclaimed orchestras, composers, and artists of our
day, her performance of this Mozart piano concerto is
certain to leave a lasting impression.
Ibert’s Hommage á Mozart makes a fitting lead-in
to the evening’s concerto, and our season opener will
conclude with a wonderful symphony by Schubert. We
can think of no better way to start our 40th Season!

We proudly present Christina Bouey, our recentlyappointed concertmaster, in her solo debut with

the same sentence, but Haydn was
the inspiration for this Russian
composer’s “Classical” Symphony
and it’s fascinating to hear how he
incorporated his own unique sound
with that of Papa Haydn. Even
after composing 100 symphonies,
the masterful Haydn was able to
pen highly original and dramatic
material for #101 which was met with
immediate and overwhelming public
and critical acclaim.

is often described as
bringing together the best of both worlds.
It allows each individual player to have an
artistic voice while also having the joy of
collaborative music-making. This intimate
setting creates a musical experience far greater
than the simple sum of the parts.
Since 1987, the CCO has proudly presented a
concert series devoted entirely to chamber music
and we hope you’ ll join us for these programs
that celebrate music that moves us.
In the first half of the season we’ll feature two defining
works by Brahms and Nielsen. Each of these have
well-earned places of distinction in the repertoire
and vividly demonstrate how well these instruments
work together. The Glière is a charming work,
performed far too rarely, and 20th century America
is represented by Leo Sowerby and Irving Fine.

GINASTERA: Variaciones Concertantes
Be a part of this amazing finish!
Equally at home with opera, Broadway,
or in an intimate recital hall, baritone
Nathan Gunn has been a highly
sought-after artist in many countries.
Gunn
The New York Times raved that “Nathan Gunn
commands an operatic baritone whose mighty heft
and richness confer an outsize authority on everything
he touches.”
In addition to selections with Mr. Gunn, the concert
will feature Variaciones Concertantes, a gripping work
written during a period of intense political conflict for
Ginastera, and Le Tombeau de Couperin, a suite of
short movements, each composed in loving memory of
people who died in WWI. Don’t miss what’s certain
to be a memorable night with Nathan Gunn as we
bring our 40th Anniversary Season to a grand close.
Mr. Gunn’s performance is sponsored by James and
Dianne Orcutt.

each date, and will feature a
variety of instruments to help
bring the tale to life with the
help of musicians from the
