67th Annual National Moot Court Competition

INVITES YOU TO JUDGE REGIONAL ROUNDS, NOV 16 and 17th
67th Annual National Moot Court Competition
Byron M. Huang and Daniel Rothschild, Co-Chairs
Junie Chang, Secretary
Stephanie Glazer, Moot Court Administrator
The New York City Bar’s National Moot Court Competition Committee and the American College of Trial Lawyers invite
you to sit on a panel of judges in the 67th Annual National Moot Court Competition. We are recruiting judges for
Wednesday, November 16th rounds held at 3PM, 5PM and 8PM and on Thursday for a 3PM tie-breaker round, if needed.
This year's problem involves two distinct and timely issues: (1) the jurisdictional reach of states to enforce their sales and
use taxes in light of Supreme Court Justice Kennedy's recent call to action concerning Quill v. North Dakota and (2) the
scope of the "private citizen search" exception to the Fourth Amendment in the context of electronic devices. These two
complex issues both arise due to the dawning of the technological age, and will be sure to challenge the research and
analytical skills of competitors in new and exciting ways.
Judges are eligible to receive 2 CLE credits in Professional Practice. A minimum of 5 years legal practice is required; a
background in litigation as well as appellate argument is highly desirable. We welcome you to forward this on to
qualified colleagues who may have an interest in judging the competition!
If you would like to judge one or more of the rounds, please complete and return the attached form to
[email protected] by October 24th. You should expect to receive a scheduling confirmation, together with
the problem and bench memo, by November 2.
Thousands of New York attorneys and jurists like you have helped make the National Moot Court Competition an
educational milestone for generations of law students from across the nation. We hope that you will help us to continue
that tradition.
See you at the Competition!
