(ROTC) is a college elective that allows you to earn a commission straight out
of college as a Second Lieutenant in the Army National Guard. In just a few hours per week, ROTC teaches leadership and
teamwork through both academic classes and hands-on training that will help you succeed in college and beyond.
ROTC also provides a way to help hold down the cost of college with two, three and four year SMP scholarships. To
receive one of these scholarships, you must be involved in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) with a National
Guard unit while in school. Combining ROTC with Guard service gives you both ROTC funds and Guard benefits.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

QUALIFICATIONS
• Be a US Citizen
• Between ages 17-31*
• Valid MEPS CH2 Physical
• ARNG Member or eligible to enlist
• Able to pass APFT with 180 points
• Meet height and weight standards
• ACT 19 or SAT 920 (& 2.5 GPA for college student)
• Acceptance Letter from target college
• Approval from ROTC ROO via ROTC Acceptance Memo
• Cadet Command MMS Award Memo
ONCE ‘AWARDED’ MINUTEMAN SCHOLARSHIP
• Enlist into the TN Army National Guard
• Agree to SMP in the TNARNG and ROTC
• Agree to Commission in the ARNG upon graduation
• Agree to serve an additional 6 year in the ARNG
