Easter Around the World
The smell of spring is in the air! The
coming of Easter means that we will soon
be out of school, and outside, in the
sunshine! But did you know, other places
around the world are celebrating Easter a
lot differently than America? People in
Poland try to drench themselves in a huge
water fight, called Smingus-Dyngus. In
Haux, France, they cook a gigantic omelet!
It feeds 1,000 people every year! Almost
everywhere around the world, people
decorate and paint eggs, so that even if
we are thousands of miles apart, we still
share the same tradition.
A Missing Flight
Imagine that one of your family members just
got on a flight to go somewhere not that far
away. You know that they are in safe hands,
and you don’t worry about them. A little less
than an hour later, you receive news that the
air flight that your family member was
traveling on vanished from radars and that
there was no trace! You wouldn’t know how to
act because you’re so scared. That’s exactly
how some people felt right after they heard
that MH370, a plane that was heading from
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing, China, had
just vanished. The plane disappeared at 1:21 am
(our time) on March 8, 2014. At first, everyone
thought it was a hijack, but, on March 26, they
found debris in the Indian ocean near
Australia, which now they think as the
remains of the plane. They still have no idea
how the plane suddenly changed course. The
Malaysian government is dumbfounded on how
this happened, and where the 239 people who
were aboard the plane are.
