The other competition is the Christmas Decoration competition & after discussions it was decided that we would make decorations in three themes as we could not choose from the ideas. The themes which have been decided are to have the following trees – edible decorations, fun & nostalgic & already the making of the decorations are underway. The Christmas decorating of the home will take place on Friday 2nd December which we will support the residents to do, so if any relatives & friends would like to join us it will start around 11am & once all completed there will be a curry & jacket potatoes for all who helped. Again there is a prize of £100 & the 10 judging will take place on Monday 5th December by William Waddington CEO for the Trust & Keren Wilkinson – Director of Operations. Elsie making tree decorations & Winnie & Annalise getting ready for the Fayre & Christmas Trees Gladys & Winnie making the Christmas decorations CQC Inspection ( Care Quality Commission) We have recently had a further CQC Inspection on 7th & 8th November although we had one in May we raised some concerns around the length of time we waited for the report & inaccuracies contained within it & this is why they inspected again even though we were already rated good. The inspector spent time with Residents, relatives & the team here at St John’s & asked them questions about the five key areas: Is it Safe Is it Caring Is it Effective Is it Responsive Is it Well led 11 We received our Report from May’s Inspection which rated us as being GOOD on all five areas (ratings are – Outstanding, Good, Requires improvement, Inadequate), the report has been distributed to all rooms & in reception together with our certificate which is displayed on the landing & in reception. Once we receive our most recent report & rating I will make this report available to everyone. The whole team here at St John’s work really hard to ensure that residents & relatives can feel happy & confident in the support which is offered. As always I would like to express my thanks to the team for their hard work & support in making a difference to everyone who lives at St John’s or visits us. If you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to speak with Laura or Faye. It might seem a bit early but as we all know Christmas arrives quickly & we need to plan ahead.
