Sailboat Block (unfinished) Fabrics: Background4 squares cut at 2 7/8” 2 rectangles cut at 2 ½” x 4 ½” Sails4 squares cut at 2 7/8” Boat Base1 square cut at 2 7/8” 1 rectangle cut at 2 ½” x 4 ½” 1. On wrong side of each background fabric square, draw diagonal line with marking tool of your choice. Place background square and sail square RST (right sides together). Sew 1/4" seam on each side of marked line; cut apart on marked line. Repeat with remaining three sets. Press seams open. 2. On wrong side of one background square, draw diagonal line with marking tool of your choice. Place background square and boat base square RST. Sew ¼” seam on each side of marked line; cut apart on marked line. Press seams open 3. Arrange and sew 2 rows of 2 matching pieced squares each. Sew rows together to make large pieced square. Sew light blue 2 1/2" x 4 1.2" strips to sides of large pieced square (Diagram II-B) to make pieced rectangle. 4. Sew background strips 2 ½” x 4 ½” to each side of your sails. 5. Sew sailboat base elements along bottom.
