HowtodressforMardiGras This year’s theme for the trade show and networking event on Thursday night is your chance to be as creative as you want! Whether you want to keep it simple with a mask, dress in the traditional Mardi Gras colours of purple, green and gold, or go all out with a fabulous costume – the choice is yours! WearaMask Mardi Gras masks are a quick and easy way to dress up just a bit. There are lots of places to purchase masks – we’ve seen them in dollar stores and party supply stores, at Pier One and for purchase at costume rental shops. Masks can be elaborate with ornate decorations, created in popular Mardi Gras characters or themes. They can be tied on with a ribbon or string, or held in place by a stick so that you can reveal your true self at any time. WearTraditionalMardiGrasColors The Mardi Gras colours and what they symbolize are: purple representing justice, gold representing power, and green representing faith. Women can wear a variety of outfits that show off the three colors of Mardi Gras. Accessorize your dress, pants, blouses or vests with tights, shoes, gloves, beads or boas in another Mardi Gras colour. For example: Green jeans paired with a purple top, add gold earrings and shoes, throw on a green boa and add a mask or feathers in your hair. You’re done! Men can add bow ties, ties, suspenders, hats and even shoes in the Mardi Gras colours. For example, black pants, white shirt, gold hat, purple suspenders and bow tie, add a mask. Done! Adding purple, gold or green ANYTHING to your outfit will give you a festive Mardi Gras flair. It’s kind of like St. Patrick’s Day – as long as you’re wearing something green, you’re Irish! WearaCostume Yes, you can go all out with a fabulous Mardi Gras costume! It can be simple or elaborate, and could be purchased, rented or created from what you have at home.
