Thompson Insurance Agency, Ltd : irefighters take a "erash course" Crews from the Gouverneur, Richville and Oxbow Fire and Rescue Departments were sharpening their skills Monday and Tuesday as they participated in vehicle stabilization and victim extrication drills at the Gouverneur Fire Station, on Route 11. The members worked on a mock three-vehicle accident with personal injuries. Teams used the new stabilization struts and hydraulic crews to help remove the "victims" who were trapped in the cars. Both Gouverneur and Richville run to at least twice as many motor vehicle accidents as they do fire calls. According to participants, the training and planning is to perfect the ability to use the tools properly and safely as well as speed the process of removing the injured from the vehicles. Over 30 firefighters and EMT's participated in the class.
