New Winery Feature Lyeth Estate
Lyeth Estate, established by Chip Lyeth in 1981,
was one of the first wineries in California to pursue
the unique complexity and composition achieved by
the marriage of Cabernet Sauvignon and the other
traditional Bordeaux varieties. Wines of this style,
known as Meritage, have become some of the world’s
most highly-rated wines. Lyeth, one of the founding
members of the Meritage Association founded
in 1988, has played an integral role in helping to
define this unique style of winemaking. Today, Lyeth
continues its legacy of blending family and tradition in
its Sonoma County wines, winning praise from critics
and consumers worldwide.

One thing we constantly strive to do in our stores is to keep things fresh. That means
frequently sourcing our new and exciting wines for you to try. While this is an ongoing
event, from time to time we like to highlight a couple gems that may have snuck into the
stores and have not received the notice they deserve. So with that in mind we felt the need
to tell you all about the wines from Kingston Estate. Family-owned and operated way down
in South Australia, the wines of Kingston Estate encapsulate the very essence of what
gives Australian family-owned wineries their great reputations today. Proud traditions are
devotedly passed down from one generation to the next with a passion that runs through

As we’ve all seen over the last several months and even a bit beyond, Argentine wines have

The most recent vintages of South African Wines are coming on really strong. In the
August edition of the Wine Advocate, many of these wines received very high marks
with 256 wines receiving a score of 90 points or higher. Many of these wines are made
in small quantities and in most cases, not even imported to the United States. As these
wines do become available, Bottle King is working hard to get them to you. We feel the
following selections represent the high quality South Africa is now bringing to the table.

Wine Advocate 90 points! 40% Carinena, 40% Syrah, and 20% Garnacha aged for 12 months in
French oak. Wood smoke, spice box, incense, lavender, black cherry and plum aromas are followed
by a mouth-filling, round, dense wine with outstanding grip and length. It over-delivers in a big way.
Drink it over the next 6-8 years.
(Italy) Vineyard Direct!
Our top selling premium Pinot Grigio!
From Alto Adige, one of the premium areas in Italy for Pinot Grigio, this wine is fresh, crisp and
clean. This medium bodied wine has lemon peel and apple flavors and a hint
of mineral and slate on the finish.
(New Zealand)
Pronounced aromas of ripe apples and lemons with nuances of fresh grass, straw and lime leaf.
Medium bodied with refreshing acidity, it has attractive vegetal and apple flavors, and finishes with
good persistence. The perfect way to welcome spring!

Wine Buyer 91 Points! Harmonious, with plenty of flavors of black cherry, plum, wild berry, anise
and leather that fold together nicely into a structured long finish. The tannins are evident and will
provide at least 2-3 years of aging.
(Italy)
Wine Buyer 91 Points! From the Maremma region in Tuscany, this wine is made pre-dominantly
with Sangiovese. It is rich and fresh with great cherry and red fruit flavors with a spiciness that
makes it great with food, but can also be enjoyed on its own.
(Washington)
Wine Buyer 92 Points! Let this Merlot sit in your glass for five minutes and you will be happy that
you did. Once it opens up you’ll find rich, concentrated flavors of dark berry, mocha, blueberry and
vanilla. The finish is long and silky ending with a hint of spice.

91 points by Allen Meadows of Burghound! A classic nose of green fruit, citrus and mineral reduction merges into round, delicious and mineral-inflected flavors that possess fine detail and plenty
of punch on the oyster shell-infused finish. I very much like the balance on the attractively dry and
lingering finish. Lovely juice and worth a look. OUTSTANDING!

Aromas of red and black cherries and fleshy plums fill the glass. Oak aging adds a touch of vanilla
and pie crust while also adding mouth feel and texture to the wine. The wine drinks of cherry tart,
raspberries and boysenberry jam.
(Germany) Vineyard Direct!
Winebuyer 91 Points! The nose of fresh apple is followed by flavors of gooseberry, white peach,
melon and a wonderful minerality expressing the true personality of the region. The fresh acidity
keeps the flavors bright and lively. This is a great food wine.
(Argentina)
Deep yellow with soft green tints, the nose carries aromas of white flowers combined with herbs,
white peaches and citrus notes such as grapefruit and oranges. On the palate, the wine is fresh,
well-balanced and enjoyable. Pair with white meats, chilled shellfish, broiled seafood and blue
cheeses.

Barrel Trolley…Super Value
We at Bottle King work to bring you the best selection of micro brews at extremely
competitive prices and we also search for those hidden values you can’t find anywhere else.
We have found a gem in Barrel Trolley Beer. Many “micros” are pushing the $10 price tag
so finding a product at such a great price is something to get excited about. Barrel Trolley
currently offers three types with an IPA expected in the summer. These styles are solid
values in their respective categories and sure to satisfy.

Newcastle News
Newcastle will be offering a new line of seasonal offerings this year. With the rich history of
brewing tradition at Newcastle expect great things. This is just a heads up to let you know
they are coming so you can watch for them. Unfortunately these will be in limited supply, so
get them while you can.
Newcastle Founder’s Ale: A rich ode to the heritage and the work of five of the best brewers in the
city coming together to show off their craft, Founder’s Ale offers a full-bodied ale with a sweet and
dry finish. (It is possible this may be sold out by the time this flier gets out)
Newcastle Summer Ale: Refreshing and light, this golden beer offers a subtle citrus hop aroma and
a clean, refreshing flavor with a dry finish.
Newcastle Werewolf: Naturally blood red in color, this distinct tasting fall ale produces a combination of sweet berry overtones and a sudden bite of bitterness.
Newcastle Winter IPA: Zesty in character and jam-packed with a creamy finish, the Newcastle
Winter IPA is full-bodied and hoppy, delivering unique and authentic malt flavors for the cold season
and snowy days.
Corned Beef and Cabbage
Corned beef is something we all enjoy on the Feast of St Patrick, and nothing goes better with
corned beef than a nice Irish beer. Bottle King has a good selection of beers from Ireland and
some American craft brews styled after all those wonderful beers from the Emerald Isle. The
selection from store to store may vary, but all locations carry a wide assortment. Here are
some of the brands you may find at your local Bottle King:

Humidor Happenings
The Liga Privada line of cigars from Drew Estates has quickly become the most sought
after cigar on the market. They are very rare and are only appearing in the most exclusive
smoke shops. Drew Estates came up with the Liga Privada Undercrown line to help meet
the insane demand for their cigars. The Undercrown is made from many of the same
tobaccos and the same binder as the T52 Liga Privada. It’s time to sit back, relax, and
enjoy a great smoke.
