2016-2017 SCHOOL-WIDE SUMMER
READING PROGRAM





All students are required to select and read
one book from the thematic school-wide
summer reading lists and to participate in a
school-wide celebration in the fall.
To facilitate discussion and prepare for
written assessment, students are encouraged
to purchase their own copy of their selected
book or take notes on the following: major
characters, conflicts, themes, and significant
quotations.
Students may be assigned summer reading
requirements by individual teachers. These
requirements may not be used to complete
the school-wide summer reading initiative
requirements.
Incoming freshmen should submit their
summer reading choice to their guidance
counselor during their scheduling conference
or email the choice to Bob Crowley no later
than August 4, 2015.

Honors and AP Summer Reading Requirements




All English honors and Advanced Placement
students are required to read all books
listed and do assigned writing (Double Entry
Journal) for their respective honors or AP
courses.
All honors and AP students are also expected
to select a book from our school wide
Honors and AP students are encouraged to
purchase copies of books and to highlight
and/or annotate significant passages as they
read.
Honors and AP teachers will assess students
on summer reading at the beginning of the
fall semester.
