Project Details
Project Level: 9th Grade students
Curriculum Fit: United States History, more specifically the American Revolution, when the thirteen
colonies broke away from British Rule on July 2nd, 1776.
Technology Used: Video Recorder that records with DVD, Television with DVD player
Collaboration Style Used: Students will perform skit for class, as they do this I will record it using a video
recorder and we will watch as a class after all students have completed the skit.
Full Project Description: I will take three class lessons to teach my class on the different actions and
events that led to the American Revolution mostly focusing on the Boston Tea Party, The Intolerable
Acts, Townshend Acts, The Stamp Act, and the First Continental Congress. After students have a detailed
idea of what events led to the American Revolution through various guided note taking and group text
book reading I will break the class up into groups of to five students. After this students will be given one
class period to create a skit on one of the following events; Boston Tea Massacre, Intolerable Acts, The
Stamp Act, Townshend Acts, and the First Continental Congress. Students will work with each other to
create a fun and education skit and will be able to create a scene they believed would of occurred during
this event. After give class time the students will be given the opportunity to go home and collect any
props needed for their skit. On March 11th each students will perform the skit for the class and when
doing so each student will evaluate the accuracy and uniqueness of each group. When students are
performing the skit I will be videotaping each student. After each student has performed the skit we will
take class time for the students to watch themselves which I believe will add an excitement to each
student as they will be able to view themselves on the television. Students will not be expected to work
on the skit at home or out of class with groups so there will be no need for students to have access to
their own video camera. However students will have the opportunity to collect props out of school they
find necessary to make their skit more educational and interesting.
