Acrostic Poem and Coloring Contest
Winner will receive a $50 Visa gift card.
Rules and Regulations for the Princess Competition:
1. Participants entering the competition must be females ages 5 to 8 years old and live in or
attend the Carson City-Crystal School District.
2. Participants must design write their own acrostic poem using the letters FRONTIER DAYS and color the accompanying artwork. Please use only either crayones, colored pencil or marker. The use of paint is prohibited. See the back of this sheet for acrostic poem
directions and samples.
3. Entries must be turned in to Carson City City Hall by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25.
Entries may also be mailed to Carson City Frontier Days P.O. Box 340 Carson City, MI
48811. Mailed entries must also be received by the above date. A $5 entry fee and the
entry form below must accompany the finished poem and coloring page.
4. All participants must be able to attend the Frontier Days Pageant on Sunday, March 8 at
4 p.m. at the Carson City United Methodist Church. The winning participant will be
crowned Princess at the official pageant.

Acrostic Poems
An acrostic is a poem in which the first letters of each line spell out a word or phrase. The first letter of each line is capitalized in order to make it easier to see the word or phrase spelled out vertically down the page. Acrostic poems do not
need to rhyme. Each word you use to decribe the main word or phrase must begin with a letter that corresponds to one
of the capital letters in the main word or phrase. You main use single words or small phrases. See below for examples:
