Summary of project
In 250 words or less, provide a statement of the research question and an easy-tounderstand summary of the project including why the issue is important, how
research outcomes will address the issue and ultimate benefits to grapegrowers
and/or winemakers
Aims and background
In 250 words or less, provide the background to the problem or opportunity that
indicated the need for this research. Include the key points arising from the literature
survey you have conducted.
Regional consultation
In 250 words or less, state which region you are intending to work with and who you
consulted to develop the project. Summarise how the project was developed and the
relevance of this project to the region and the Australian grape and wine industry in
general.
Project design
In 250 words or less, describe the project design, methods and location(s) of the
research. Outline the key project stages, outputs and duration of experiment.
Describe how the research is innovative and how findings will add to our existing
knowledge.
Extension and practice change
In 250 words or less, clearly explain what practice your research is focused upon.
What information/evidence could your research produce that would influence a
change in that practice by grapegrowers and/or winemakers? Describe the potential
impact and benefits of the project. Describe the extension materials which will be
generated by the project and how these should be delivered to the participating
region.
Research team
In 250 words or less, describe who will work on the project, what will they do and
their research experience. Please attach a copy of your CV and evidence of
completion or submission of a PhD or Master’s thesis. Applicants should have five
years or less of research experience since completing their degree. Please also
attach a letter from the Project Supervisor which demonstrates their support for the
applicant, proposed research and associated funding.

Proposed budget
Financial support from Wine Australia is up to $20,000 (excl. GST) per annum. The
amount requested must be at least matched by a co-contribution from the research
organisation (cash and/or in-kind). This commitment must be secured by the
applicant prior to lodgement of the application. The total amount will provide support
for research-related costs including salary (and on-costs) for the applicant, operating
expenses (eg consumables, laboratory analysis etc), project-related travel (car hire,
fuel, airfares etc) and capital items.
Requests for travel to conferences or workshops will not be supported within this
application, however Wine Australia does provide travel bursaries. For more
