Monday
Student Learning Expectations: Students will compare the novel they have read to its film
adaptation.
Mode of Instruction/Activities: Students will finish watching Bless Me Ultima.

Tuesday
Student Learning Expectations: Students will reflect upon their own writing, as well as on the
writing of others.
Mode of Instruction/Activities: Students will share their poems with the rest of the class. After
each student reads, their audience will tell them what they like about their poetry, as, them
questions about it, and give advice on how to improve it. They will be given a T.A.G. reflection
sheet, which they will complete within two days of reading.
Assignments: T.A.G Reflection
Wednesday Student Learning Expectations: Students will learn some background information regarding
William Shakespeare, so that they will have some context on which to base their analysis of
Romeo and Juliet.
Mode of Instruction/Activities: We will read background information together. Students will
also be shown a presentation taking them to Shakespeare’s time period. We will also sort the
main characters of the play into their respective houses. Students will be introduced to their
reading/assignment schedule for the play.
Thursday
Assignments: Romeo and Juliet/ T.A.G. Reflection
Student Learning Expectations: Students will look for specific literary elements as they read
“Where Have you Gone, Charming Billy?” in their groups.
Mode of Instruction/Activities: Students will read the short story, taking notes as they read.
Friday
Assignments: Romeo and Juliet/T.A.G. Reflection
Student Learning Expectations: Students will utilize a previously-learned writing strategy to
answer short answer questions based on a given STAAR reading passage.
Mode of Instruction/Activities: Students will use the ACE model to respond to short answer
questions pertaining to a given passage.
Assignments: Romeo and Juliet/T.A.G. Reflection/SOAPS Assignment #2
Teacher Notes: The first two Romeo and Juliet homework assignments are due on Thursday of next week.
SOAPS are due on Wednesday of next week. T.A.G. Reflections are due two days after sharing poetry.
