Dear Parents and Guardians
Welcome back to school. Once again, I hope that despite the poor weather you had an
enjoyable summer. I escaped the rain and had a lovely fortnight in California with my son.
However, I learnt a valuable lesson about reading and checking flight bookings very carefully
when I booked a short flight to connect with the flight home. I carefully booked for 08.55 to
give myself plenty of time to change terminals and connect to the afternoon flight. On checking
in I discovered I had booked for 8.55pm and not 8.55am! Valuable lesson learnt!
Today we welcome our new members of staff. Mrs Farmer, who is the Deputy Headteacher,
will be teaching Prep 6. Mrs Farmer is a maths and science specialist and is currently
completing an MA in Inclusivity and Special Educational Needs with a specialism in dyslexia.
Miss Carruthers will be teaching Prep 7. She is a language specialist and has worked in Spain
in recent years. She is also a keen netball player and will be assisting the PE department in
training our netball team.
Welcome back to Mrs Hamilton who has agreed to teach PE again this term. Miss Carruthers
and Mrs Hamilton are busy booking fixtures for a range of sporting events. The Governors will
be advertising again for a qualified teacher of PE.
Thank you for the questionnaires. There has been a lot of positive feedback and you certainly
have appreciated the Parentmail. We now have 100% take up.
The “Year Ahead Meetings” will be held again this year.
Please look carefully at the Bumper Bundle with this letter. The office staff have worked hard
to try and reduce the paperwork, but somehow legislation and regulations conspire against us
and the Bundle seems to increase each year.
This Friday we will have our Teachers’ Commissioning Service when each teacher renews her
promise to teach the children according to the Gospel Values and the ethos of Loreto schools.
This will be at 2.30 and you are all welcome to attend.
The school secretary, Miss Hunt, has resigned and left the school and we will be interviewing
for a new secretary. In the meantime please be patient with the office as your call may not be
answered immediately but we will monitor closely all messages.
