Siberian Tiger

Siberian Tiger
Introduction
The Siberian tiger is considered a critically endangered species with the primary threats to its'
survival in the wild being poaching and habitat loss from intensive logging and development. Tigers
are most commonly poached for their fur and for their body parts used in Traditional Chinese
Medicine. They are the largest of the tiger species and can grow up to 13 feet in length and weigh
up to 700 lbs. They are well known for their elegant walk and their purring sound. The Siberian tiger
is a very dedicated hunter, and they blend well into their surroundings.
Habitat
Siberian tigers use to have a huge habitat because they are
able to adapt to different types of environments which
range from the Siberian taiga to open grasslands, the snow
and tropical mangrove swamps. However as it can be seen
on the map, their habitat has been reduced dramatically.
Siberian tigers are extremely territorial, so they will fight
other animals and other tigers that invade their space.
As their name indicates that they are found in Siberia. Unfortunately
that is their only natural habitat remaining as they have been
destroyed in Asia and Russia over the years. Today they are found in
the higher mountain areas where they are far away from humans.
Changing Habitats
As climate change continues to warm the planet, tigers
are feeling the heat. As we see ocean levels rise, tigers
are losing habitat due to decrease in areas like India's
Sundarban islands. As rising sea levels claim more
habitat and sea water moves up river, naturally fresh
water is becoming more saline, or more highly
concentrated with salt.
These factors are forcing the tigers to move northward
towards areas more heavily populated by humans and
increasing the likelihood of animal/human conflicts.
Ecosystem
A Siberian Tiger’s ecosystem is the snow or
the jungle. They use oxygen, sunlight, food,
water and soil to live. These things are very
important to a tiger’s life, they need their
vitamins, fibres, and much more.
There are an estimated 400 to 500
Siberian tigers living in the wild, and
recent studies suggest that these
numbers are stable. An ecosystem is
a biological community of interacting
organisms and their physical
environment.
Food Chains
& Food Webs
This food chain/food web shows the
sun at the bottom then the grass,
after that the Deer and the Wild Boar
and at the top the Siberian Tiger. A
food chain is the path by which energy
passes from one living thing to
another living thing. A food web is a
system of interlocking and
interdependent food chains.

A Siberian Tiger is a breed of
tiger. It moves itself around to
get from place to place and
they breathe oxygen to
respire. The SIberian Tiger is
sensitive to the environment
and they are one of the best
hunters. This picture is of a
fully grown tiger and it grows
fully by the time they are 2.5
to 5 years old. Male and
female Siberian Tigers mate
to have cubs and they
excrete by going to the toilet
on the ground. A Siberian
Tiger eats food to make
energy.
Classification
The Siberian Tiger is classified
as a mammal and is a
vertebrate. A vertebrate is an
animal with a spine and a
invertebrate is an animal
without a spine. A mammal
includes these types of things
give birth to live young, have
fur or hair, they are
warm-blooded, mammals that
live on land have 4 legs and
ears that stick out.
Conclusion
In conclusion Siberian tigers are getting hunted for their skin
and special parts of their body for Traditional Chinese
Medicine. The Siberian tigers habitat mostly the snow and the
rainforest, they can adapt to huge grasslands. The Siberian
tiger is classified as a mammal and it is a vertebrate. The
scientific name for the Siberian tiger is Panthera tigris altaica.
The population of Siberian tigers are around 350-450 tigers.
They are the largest of the tiger species and can grow up to
13 feet in length and weigh up to 700 lbs. As climate change
continues to warm the planet, tigers are feeling the heat.

FEEDBACK TJ you have done an excellent job on your project, you have included a lot
of detailed responses.
Something that you may need to improve on is to not have so much
information or just separate it out a little bit more <3
But apart from that your work is very well to standard, it is basically at a
year 8 level.
