SymSitive® 1609
wins the 2010 BSB Innovation Prize
Symrise's soothing ingredient SymSitive® 1609 took home the first prize
in the category of “Innovative raw materials: naturals/actives.” The world's
fourth-largest fragrance and flavoring manufacturer has once again
demonstrated its innovative abilities, having repeatedly won other prizes
in previous years as well. The award was presented on April 14th during
this year's In-Cosmetics trade fair in Paris.
SymSitive® 1609 is Symrise's newest product launch in the field of
ingredients for sensitive skin. SymSitive® 1609 soothes by minimizing
hypersensitivity reactions of the skin. As shown in a clinical study with 20
subjects, the substance has a significant impact on burning and stinging.
Using SymSitive® 1609 directly lowered Capsaicin-induced stinging and
burning below the sensory threshold and
immediately had a strong soothing effect on the
skin. There is a clearly defined need for effective
ingredients which soothe the skin. Harmful
environmental factors, stress, fatigue and other
influences mean that more and more people have
problems with sensitive skin.
Véronique Maurin, Global Product Director of
Cosmetics Ingredients, said of the
award, “Developing new concepts and strategies
in the field of cosmetic ingredients is one of
Symrise's core competences. SymSitive® 1609 is
the result of this research activity. The award is
also a reflection of our close and productive
cooperation with our partners, BRAIN AG and
AnalytiCon Discovery GmbH.”
Since 2003, the BSB Innovation Prize has been
awarded annually by Beratungs- and Servicebüro
Dr. Riedel. The winners are selected by an
independent, international jury consisting of
prestigious representatives of the cosmetics
industry (including Unilever, La Prairie Group,
Procter & Gamble, Mibelle Cosmetics).
