The DRET Indoor Rowing Cup took place this term and Team
Havelock came out on top!
The event was held at Grantham Meres and all 8 DRET secondary
academies attended to contest for this years title. This is the first
DRET event Havelock have ever won and it was full of incredible
performances from all involved. Every student smashed their PB and
the relay scores were incredible as we don’t practice these in the
academy. Kacey Whyte & Fauz Guest earned bronze in their
respective races. Bringing home a silver medal for the academy were
Ryan Thompson, Chloe Hutson, Jack Mills, Alex Kirton and both boys
relay teams. Dannika Wells, Joanna Dlugoszewska & the girls year 9
& 10 relay team earned gold.
Overall, this was an unbelievable performance from the Hawks to
secure the trophy. It was brilliant to see all the students supporting
each other and the smiles on their faces when it was announced we
had won. The students have worked so hard for this and they
deserve enjoy every second of it. Now we keep training ready for
the NIJRC finals in March.

Sam Saves Hawks!
Team Havelock played an U15 rugby match against fellow
DRET academy, King Edward last week and it was an
unbelievable game. This is an annual friendly fixture for
both the academies and the first of this academic year. The
current score between the 2 teams was 1-1 before this game
took place last week. Games against KEVI are always
competitive & very tight with both academies being very
close in terms of development.
Both teams looked strong and had a lot of very talented
players. Sam Kershaw was the first player to break through
the line and score a try. The game swung back and forth,
with both teams making huge tackles and scoring some well
worked try's. The conversion rate from both teams
was impressive, considering this is the first game of the
season either team has kicked. Havelock's Ritchie
Richardson scored 3/5 conversions.
With only a minute to go KEVI scored a try and converted to
take a 41-39 lead. Havelock didn't give up, with Sam
Kershaw catching the ball from the restart and just put his
head down and ran towards to the line. KEVI made tackle
after tackle but Sam somehow came out with the ball and
made the all important try. Ritchie then converted the kick
to give Havelock a 46 - 41 win!
Both teams were a credit to their academies, with some
fantastic rugby being played and big tackles being made.

Swimming
Gala
Success!
Havelock & Humberston played their first ever Boccia Varsity game
and it was a very close encounter, with both teams putting in
fantastic performances. Most games were very close and the final
score was Havelock 18 – 30 Humberston—meaning Humberston won
10 games and Havelock won 6. Overall this Varsity was a huge
success and enjoyed by both teams. The students are a credit to
both academies and we look forward to Varsity number 2!
Team Havelock’s U16 Table Tennis team competed at the Sainsbury's school games and finished 6th in the county. This is a huge
achievement as our team is made up of 4 year 9 boys and they
were competing against year 11 boys and teams who were ranked
4th in the country! Unbelievably proud of the boys! #Talent
