POSTER GUIDELINES

POSTER GUIDELINES
Abstracts scheduled for presentation will be numbered as assigned and listed in the Meeting
Program. All poster presenters must attend FOCI 2011 to validate their abstracts and answer
questions. In particular, the presenter must be present at their poster for the duration of the
poster session scheduled on the evening of October 29, 2011.
To give registrants the maximum possible time for viewing, your poster must be mounted
between10:30 AM and 5 PM on Saturday, October 29. The poster session and concurrent
reception is from 6:30 – 8:30 PM on the 29th.
Format
Maximum poster size is 42 inches horizontal by 42 inches vertical (or 1 meter x 1 meter
maximum). The background poster board is 48 inches (height) by 96 (length) inches, with two poster
presentations assigned to each side of the board. Your poster may be smaller on either or both
dimensions, but cannot exceed this size.
The top of your poster should include the presentation title, and the authors’ complete name.
Example:
The Effects of Lotion on Dry Skin
John Doe, Mary Smith, Peter Jones
The lettering for this section should be at least 1" (2.5 cm) high.
All illustrations must incorporated into the poster beforehand; no copying or construction materials will
be available on site except push pins which can be used to hang the poster up for display. Illustrations
must be readable from distances of 3-6 feet (1-2 meters) away. Charts, drawings, and illustrations
should be more heavily drawn than those prepared for PPT slides.
A short and legible "Introduction" statement near the top and a "Summary of Conclusions" near the
bottom are helpful to attendees. A copy of your abstract can be posted for the information of those who
study your display when you are not in attendance. Keep text and figure legends short, but do not omit
them. Keep illustrative material simple. Simple use of color can add emphasis effectively. Above all,
use large font sizes for all parts of the poster -- at least 1/2" (1.8 cm) high.
Roll poster materials and insert in a large mailing tube or use a portfolio case to transport to the
meeting. Do not send materials ahead of time to conference coordinators or to the hotel. In the event
that travelling with your poster is not possible please contact [email protected] for more information about
how to get your poster to the symposium.
Photo material should be on matte paper, not glossy, to avoid glare.
