PREMIUM WAREHOUSES
Summary
1. The LME is pleased to announce the first list of “premium warehouses”, being those DP
Warehouses (i.e. a particular warehouse company operating in a particular LME
Delivery Point) which have opted-in to the Premium Warrant regime, and hence are
eligible for the delivery of Warrants against the LME’s forthcoming premium contracts.
Background
2. The LME is grateful to those warehouse operators who have opted-in to the Premium
Warrant regime. In all four premium contract regions, users of the premium contracts
can employ the services of a number of warehouse operators across a broad spread of
delivery points.
3. Rents and FOTs in respect of premium contracts will be published in due course.
Premium warehouses have been asked to submit charges effective only until 31 March
2016, i.e. for the 2015-16 rent year, in parallel with their standard charges already in
effect. Adjustments (if any) for the 2016-17 rent year will be reflected in the rents
effective 1 April 2016, to be published to the market on or before 31 December 2015.
4. Warehouse operators will publish their conversion charge in due course. Published
conversion charges represent maximums, and are aimed at allowing metal owners to
budget the worst-case cost for Premium Warrant conversions. Metal owners are
encouraged to interact directly with warehouse operators to discuss the economic terms
associated with any specific conversion.
5. Further premium warehouses may be announced by subsequent Notice. The LME will
also publish a list of premium warehouses on its website, and update this list from time
to time as appropriate.
