A solder joint fatigue life predicting method includes: estab
lishing a maximum temperature, a minimum temperature,
and a temperature cycle frequency in a ?eld environment;
establishing a maximum temperature, a minimum tempera
ture, and a temperature cycle frequency in a laboratory envi
ronment for accelerated testing; implementing the acceler
ated testing to measure test fatigue life until failure of the
product; determining exponents for the ramp rate and dWell
time in a novel acceleration factor equation Which is repre
sented using the ramp rates and dWell times of the ?eld
environment and the laboratory environment from pro?le
data of the temperature cycle in the ?eld environment, from
pro?le data of the temperature cycle in the laboratory envi
ronment, and from test fatigue life data, and calculating an
acceleration factor by plugging these exponents into the
acceleration factor equation; and calculating ?eld fatigue life
of the product from the calculated acceleration factor and
measured test fatigue life.

steps of:

uct;
determining exponent ml for the ramp rate and exponent
m2 for the dwell time in Equation 1 below, which is

time Dwell?ezd of the ?eld environment, and the ramp
