YEAR 6 WEEKLY NEWSLETTER Week commencing: Half Term Holiday Last week—Autumn 1 Week 8 The children really enjoyed their visits to the National Coal Mining Museum and they were a credit to our school. During their visit, the children took part in a visit underground whereby they had the opportunity to crawl through mine tunnels, visit the Victorian mine exhibition and travel down a mine shaft! The children also took part in a Sally Fletcher 1842 Workshop. The children were questioned about their knowledge and understanding of the 1842 Mines Act and the role of the Royal Commissioners. They children were able to share their learning and some children took part in a role-play of the mining job roles.
