E2020 QUICK START GUIDE FOR STUDENTS
This Quick Start Guide will give you the basics you need to get
started with eWriting. For a more complete explanation, please
take a look at our eWriting Student’s Manual.
PRE-WRITING ACTIVITY
1. Click on either the Outline or KWHL Chart
2. Outline Formatting Options:
a. Increase Indent or Decrease Indent
b. Choose Bold, Italic, or Underline
c. Use Numbered Lists and Bulleted Lists
3. KWHL Chart Functionality:
a. Click on each cell to enter text
b. Click on Add New Row to enter additional text
c. Uses plain text
4. Click the Prompt button to view prompt
5. Click on the Pre-writing Activity icons in the upperright corner of the eWriting window to toggle
between the Outline and KWHL Chart
6. You must enter text into the Pre-writing activity for it
to be considered complete
7. Click Exit to save work

ROUGH DRAFT ACTIVITY
1. Click the drop-down arrow next to Rough Draft to review Pre-Writing
2. Click the Prompt button to view prompt
3. Available Formatting:
a. Bold, Italic and Underline
b. Numbered and Bulleted Lists
c. Increase and Decrease Indent
d. Font Style, Size and Color
e. Cut, Copy and Paste
4. Use Tools:
a. Spelling and Grammar Check
b. Thesaurus
c. Click the Sample button for sample essays
d. Click the Teacher Comments button for teacher feedback
e. Click the Research button to access search engine
5. You must enter text in order for the Rough Draft activity to be
considered complete
6. Click Exit to receive a grade or credit
7. Click Exit and then Save and Exit to submit later
FINAL DRAFT ACTIVITY
1. Click the drop-down arrow next to Final Draft to view Pre-Writing and
Rough Draft activities
2. Available Formatting (same options as Rough Draft)
3. Use Tools (same options as Rough Draft)
4. Click the Exit button and then the Save and Exit button to complete
the Final Draft at a later time
5. You must enter text in order for the Final Draft activity to be
considered complete
6. You cannot make changes to essay after clicking Submit for Grade
7. Click Exit and then Submit for Grade to submit completed essay
