Thanksgiving Day is a very important
day in the United States. Here are
some facts to help you enjoy the day.
1. Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on
the fourth Thursday in November in
the United States.
2. The Plymouth Pilgrims were the
first to celebrate the Thanksgiving.
3. The pilgrims arrived in North
America in December 1620.
4. The pilgrims sailed on the ship,
which was known by the name of
'Mayflower'.
5. They celebrated the first
Thanksgiving Day in the fall of 1621.
7. The Pilgrim leader, Governor
William Bradford, had organized the
first Thanksgiving feast in the year
1621 and invited the neighboring
Wampanoag Indians also to the feast.
9. The state of New York officially
made Thanksgiving Day an annual
custom in 1817.
11. President Franklin D. Roosevelt
restored Thursday before last of
November as Thanksgiving Day in the
year 1939. He did so to make the
Christmas shopping season longer and
thus stimulate the economy of the
state.
12. Congress passed an official
proclamation in 1941 and declared
that now onwards Thanksgiving will
be observed as a legal holiday on the
fourth Thursday of November every
year.
Sports
Football:
The Tigers fell to 5-4 on the season and
0-3 in district with a 38-16 loss against
Zephyr. Turnovers plagued the Tigers and
hindered their comeback efforts.
Last Friday the Tigers won against
Lometa 53-8 to end their season.
Basketball:
The Lady Tigers had their season
opener against the Lohn Lady Eagles.
They worked hard to get their first win of
the season 33-27.

May Robotics competed in San Angelo on Nov. 5th.
Advanced Team M.M. consisting of Amanda
White, Brody Elkins, Cody Johnson, and Laci
Wright took 5th place out of 33 teams.
Advanced Team Spartans with members Matthew
Blankinship and Ryan Anderson placed 20th ;
Advanced Team Beta with Ben Brown and Sam
Brown took 19th.
