Chemical Weathering Model Lesson Plan
Essential Question:
How do various environmental factors affect rate of chemical weathering?
Learning Targets:
Students will be able to explain how rock composition affects the rate of chemical weathering.
Students will be able to explain how concentration of acid rain affects the rate of chemical weathering.
Materials:
Acid Rain Article
Computers
NetLogo Model
Worksheet
Lesson Timeline:
Students will read the Acid Rain article and make predictions. (20 minutes)
Discuss predictions with the whole class (7 minutes)
Guide students to start up the NetLogo model on each computer. (3 minutes)
Students work with the model and make observations (15 minutes)
Students complete analysis questions and discuss ( 15 minutes)
