Day #1 – April 30, 2017
Welcome as we travel America’s country highways via motorcoach. Our tour director has several
activities planned on board today along with many points of interest. Late afternoon we arrive in
Paducah, KY. Enjoy the complimentary “Kick-Back Reception” at the hotel, consisting of snacks,
salads, and sandwiches. Your evening is free. (Kick-Back Reception)
Day #2 – May 1, 2017
This morning we travel to Memphis, TN. Our first stop is at St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
Here a local docent will join us for a guided tour of the hospital. After lunch we will enjoy a unique
Memphis tour, something that truly brings Memphis to life. Along with the narration we have
scheduled visits to Sun Studios and Rock N Soul Museum. Free time will be given to explore the
Beale Street District prior to dinner at BB Kings, one of the great jazz restaurants. (B,D)
Day #3 – May 2, 2017
After an included breakfast this morning our journey continues as we make our way to New
Orleans. Our first stop will be at the Destrehan Plantation. This majestic home watches over the
banks of the Mississippi River and minutes away from New Orleans. Destrehan Plantation remains
the oldest documented plantation home in the lower Mississippi Valley. We make our way to New
Orleans for the next four nights. The evening is at your leisure. (B,Kick-Back Reception)
Day #4 – May 3, 2017
Breakfast is included at the hotel before our local step on guide joins us for a riding tour of New
Orleans. We will learn how this historic city came about. Free time will be given in the French
Quarter to explore and have lunch. This afternoon we travel to the back waters of Cajun Country
and board the Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour. Here you will have an up close and personal experience
with the wild life! Keep your camera ready for unexpected visitors! Time will be given to freshen up
before dinner. Tonight’s dining reservations are at Court of Two Sisters. Through the years this
restaurant has become known worldwide. After dinner we will walk to Music Legends Park to enjoy
this cozy park that hosts live local bands daily. (B,D)
Day #5 – May 4, 2017
Today is a free day to explore the “Big Easy” on your own or just sleep in. Late afternoon we join
our traveling companions for a special dinner cruise aboard the Steamboat Natchez Sternwheeler
with great food, fun and music! (B,D)
Day #6 – May 5, 2017
Today is a busy one. Our first stop is at Mardi Gras World. Guests tour the working warehouse
where floats are made for Mardi Gras parades in New Orleans. After our tour we have reservations
at the New Orleans School of Cooking. These entertaining classes teach the basics of Louisiana’s
cooking in a way you will never forget. And speaking of never forgetting our next stop will be at the
World War II Museum. This must-see museum illuminates the American experience during WWII.
Time will be given to visit Café du Monde, Jackson Square, French Quarter or return to the hotel to
relax before dinner. This evening dinner reservations have been made at Mulates. Known as the
original Cajun restaurant famous for preserving and celebrating food, music and culture. (B,L,D)
Day #7 – May 6, 2017
We bid farewell to New Orleans and follow the Mississippi River North and a visit to the Vicksburg
National Military Park. After an orientation at the Visitors Center, we will have a hosted tour of the
Battlefield and learn the history of this important Civil War campaign. There will be free time to
explore historic downtown Vicksburg and lunch on our own. We continue on to Jackson, MS for our
overnight stay. Tonight enjoy the kickback reception offered at the hotel. (B,Kick Back Reception)
Day #8 – May 7, 2017
This morning we continue our travels north through the vast Mississippi Delta farm lands to the
quaint little river town of Cape Girardeau, MO. We check into our hotel to freshen up and enjoy a
reception. This evening we have planned a Farewell Dinner. (B,D)
Day # 9 – May 8, 2017
This morning we visit the Mississippi River Tales Mural located on a portion of Cape Girardeau’s
flood walls. Covering nearly 18,000 square feet, this 1100-foot-long mural features 24 historically
themed panels that vividly portray Cape Girardeau’s rich history and heritage. The final leg of our
journey continues today with a lunch stop in the St. Louis area and then arriving home in the late
afternoon with great memories of our New Orleans Adventure. (B)
