Dear Parents/Guardians,
As your child prepares
to enter the 6th grade, the Math Department at Memorial Middle School
would like to provide material to practice and review during the summer. The material is to
give your child the opportunity to practice math skills that he/she should have mastered this
past year:
-
Fluently add, subtract and multiply multi digit numbers
Fluently divide whole numbers with a two digit divisor
Add, subtract and multiply fractions, improper fractions and mixed numbers
Convert improper fractions to mixed numbers and vice versa
Add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals to hundredths
Order and estimate decimals and fractions
Familiarity with metric units of measure
Solve multi step word problems
Completion of the packet is voluntary and will not be collected or graded. However, we strongly
encourage your child practice math skills necessary to be successful in the next school year.
Should your child desire further practice, there are math websites listed on the district's
Curriculum and lnstruction web page. The Bauman Library can be of assistance as well.
It is our hope that math and reading will be an integral part of your child's summer.
Enjoy your summer,
q--"
