About our Youth Work Offer in the Mid:
The Mid Northumberland area sweeps down from the Scottish border, through Coquetdale to the Newbiggin by the Sea
coast, incorporating larger towns like Ashington and Morpeth, smaller towns like Bedlington and many villages that add to
the rich cultural and historical heritage that mould the lives and attitudes of the teenagers who have grown up here.
Engaging with the diversity of young people in the Mid Northumberland area means we take several approaches including
schools based work, youth club work, one to one support and detached sessions. Each session is delivered under the
auspices of a full time nationally qualified youth worker and seeks to develop the skills of the young people through varied
programmes of activities which the young people and staff design. This blends the experience and training of the youth
workers with the ideas and enthusiasm of the young people and means that issues young people face today are addressed
in a relevant and authentic way. We work in partnership with many local VCS groups to support where resources are scarce
and help fill gaps together that neither could fill alone. Many groups would not be able to run without this collaborative
approach.
All this means we can offer young people in the Mid Northumberland area support, advice and fun at a time when all 3 are
vital in their transition into adulthood.
