Relay Game Rules
Wet T-Shirt Contest #1 – A relay race using t-shirts, buckets, and water.
1. Set Up: 2 buckets per team placed several yards apart. The buckets on the starting side are filled
with water and a t-shirt is soaking in each bucket of water. The buckets on the opposite side are
empty.
2. Teams: Can have several teams racing at the same time. Each team should have 4 members.
3. Process: On “Go”, one person from each team takes the wet t-shirt out of their bucket of water
and races to the other side. Once there, each participant wrings the water out of the t-shirt into
the empty bucket.
4. Objective: To be the team with the most water in the 2nd bucket at the end of the game. The
end comes when each of the four team members has had a turn.
Frozen T-Shirt Contest – A competition to free up a frozen shirt in order to put it on.
1. Set Up: One frozen (soaked in water, rolled into a tight ball or tied in a knot, placed in a zip-lock
bag, more water poured in, sealed, frozen solid) T-shirt per participant.
2. Teams: 1 person to represent each team to get the shirt on, but multiple team members can
help in the process.
3. Process: On “Go”, each team will have to remove the shirt from the bag and put it on a team
member. You cannot use water or heat in the process of removing the shirt from the bag.
4. Objective: To be the team that gets the shirt unfrozen, unfolded, and on their body first.
Pack a Car – A competition to fit as many people into a vehicle as possible.
1. Set Up: Need a small vehicle.
2. Teams: One team will go at a time. The number of team members is limited only by the size of
the vehicle and the creativity of the packing. All participants will need to remove belts and
remove any sharp objects from their pockets.
3. Process: On “Go”, each team will have 3 minutes to get as many people in the car as possible
and close the doors.
4. Objective: To have the largest number of participants inside the car. Note: People in the trunk
do not count!
Cheese Puff Toss – A competition to make the cheese puffs stick on the face.
1. Set Up: Teams will designate a “tossee” – the person who sits in a chair and has his/her face
covered with whipped cream.
2. Teams: The teams will compete at the same time. Each team will consist of 4 players – the
“tossee” and 3 ”tossers”.
3. Process: 3 team members line up with 10 cheese puffs each. They toss the cheese puff balls at
the whipped cream face from a designated spot. (Bring sunglasses to protect your eyes!)
4. Objective: To get the cheese puffs to stick in the whipped cream. The “tossee” cannot use their
hands to help! The winning team is determined by the largest number of cheese puffs
remaining stuck in the whipped cream after all of the puffs have been tossed.
The games above will lead to the determination of the 2011 Spirit Award.
Scavenger Hunt – A competition to find various items around the event.
1. Set Up – Chairs will be set up on the stage for the number of participants minus 1.
2. Process – The leader will call out an item to be located. The participants search for the item. As
they find the item, they return to the stage. The last person to return to the stage is eliminated.
Eliminations will also take place if the person does not return within 5 minutes.
3. Objective – To be the person sitting on the stage in the chair when only one chair remains.
Minute to Win It – A competition between individuals to complete a series of tasks in a minimal amount
of time. Contestants will take turns trying to complete the challenge within the shortest amount of time
within a minute. Contestants can “buy” up to two “lives” ($1 per life) to attempt the two activities for a
better time.
1. Going UP! : (AKA: Moving on up)
Set up: 39 blue cups, 1 red cup
Instructions: Contestant will start with 1 red cup at the bottom of a stack of blue ones. Contestant must
move 1 cup at a time, while alternating hands, from the top to the bottom of the stack.
Objective: Contestants must successfully cycle through the blue cups and bring red cup back to the
bottom.
2.Johnny Applestacker:
Set up: 5 apples, and a table.
Instructions: When the clock starts, contestants begin stacking the apples one on top of another.
Objective: Contestants must successfully stack 5 apples, without altering them in any way. They must
remain freestanding for 3 seconds, within the minute limit.
3.Pyramid of Hope: (AKA: Stack Attack)
Set up: 36 Relay For Life Cups and a table.
Instructions: Contestants have a minute to successfully build the Pyramid of HOPE by stacking Relay For
Life cups one on top of another, until there is one cup at the tip of the Pyramid on top of two cups (and
so on).
Objective: After successfully building the Pyramid of HOPE, Contestants must break the cups back down
into 1 single stack, within the 60-second time fame.
4. Getting’ Cooler: (Aka: Getting Juggy with it)
Set Up: 4 (5)-gallon water jugs and a table.
Instructions: Contestant will grab the water cooler (jugs) and start stacking them either mouth up or
down, one on top of another.
Objective: successfully stack the water coolers on top of each other in the fastest time possible within
the 60- second time frame.
