To help avoid fraud, the Credit Union National
Association (CUNA) released a list of helpful tips to
keep personal information out of the hands of
criminals. Hackers will stop at nothing to get the
personal information and card data of millions of
Americans.
1. Don’t respond to email, text, or telephone
calls asking for personal or financial
information
2. Frequently review account activity and
immediately report unauthorized transactions
3. Place an initial fraud alert with credit bureaus
if fraud has occurred
4. Enroll and opt-in for transaction monitoring
5. Use card on/off switches (if available)
6. Enroll in Verified by VISA and/or
MasterCard Secure Code
October
On Saturday, October 17th, SVFCU hosted our
first Shred Day open to the public at our
Danbury, CT branch. In lieu of free document
shredding for all who attended, we requested
food donations to donate to the Bethel Senior
Center in Bethel, CT. We proudly donated over
100 pounds of food! Thank you for all who
helped make this day a great success.
November
In part to help educate high school students on
financial literacy, several SoundView staff and
board members volunteered for a Financial
Reality Fair. The fair was held Wednesday,
November 4th at Western CT State University
hosting over 300 high schoolers from across
Connecticut. The fair teaches students how to
budget when they enter the “real world.”
For Thanksgiving, SVFCU partnered with
Duracell to make two baskets of food for those
locally in need. Forty-two baskets in total were
collected for families to make Thanksgiving
dinners.
December
SoundView participated in the annual Holiday
Fruit Drive at Duracell. SVFCU made three
fruit baskets for donation to low income senior
residents residing at the Danbury Commons in
Danbury, CT.
