Saturday, June 11, 2016 Full Day Tour American History Tour of Lexington & Concord followed by Lunch at Concord’s Colonial Inn 20 Guests, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM On the evening of April 18th, the famous ride by Paul Revere, William Dawes and other warned locals with shouts of “the British are coming!” In the pre-dawn hours of April 19th, 50 to 70 militiamen were summoned to the green to stand firm against the British troops. The next morning, April 19, 1775, British Regulars battled with colonists or minutemen, in the first battle of the American Revolution, known as “the skirmish on the green.” The tour starts here where it all began. Guests will Visit the Hancock-Clark Tavern where Paul Revere delivered his warning of the British advance. Hear about the Battle of Lexington Green, and then follow Battle Road to Concord Bridge where “the shot heard around the world” was fired. Stop at Orchard House where Louisa May Alcott wrote “Little Women”, past the Wayside Inn, the only National Historic Landmark lived in by 3 literary families. In Concord, visit Sleepy Hollow Cemetery and Authors’ Ridge, Emerson’s “Old Manse” and Thoreau’s Walden Pond. Each person will take a moment to contemplate where they are standing and let their imaginations take them back to those precious moments in our American History. This tour is sure to take your guests back to the time in American History where it all began. At the conclusive of the tour, guests will be escorted to the Historic Colonial Inn which is rich history dating back to 1716. Lunch at Concord’s Colonial InnGuests will enjoy lunch as well as learn about the Inn’s 300 year history dating back to 1776, the Inn is surrounded by landmarks of our nation’s literary and revolutionary history.
