Berkeley House Getting to know

Getting to know
Berkeley House
Berkeley House is located a few miles to the north east
of Hull city centre in Bilton Grange and offers residential
and dementia care. Berkeley Square shares the same
location and provides supported living for adults with
learning disabilities.
Berkeley House
Berkeley House provides long and short-term care, all tailored to the
needs of the individual and provides a warm, welcoming and safe
environment for residents.
Berkeley Square consists of three purpose-built self-contained
bungalows for residents with learning disabilities who need extra
support to live in the community.
We take great care to focus on the person. It’s
important for our residents to feel at home, so we
create a friendly environment with an individually
appropriate balance of care and independence.
Our care
Our well-trained team are available around the clock
to ensure our residents’ comfort and well-being.
Each person has a unique care plan as well as a
named carer.
Valuing the individual
Each of our residents has an important life story
which we want to learn and understand. By spending
time listening to residents along with their family
and friends, we create and capture each person’s
experiences in My Day, My Life, My Story – this helps
us tailor our care to the needs of each person.
We want family and friends to get involved in our
residents’ daily lives and they’ll always receive a
warm welcome when visiting.
Berkeley House
Berkeley House has a beautifully spacious and
well-appointed interior. Each private bedroom has
ensuite facilities and residents requiring larger living
space can choose one of our premium rooms, each
with its own front door and garden area. There are
lots of places for residents and visitors to spend time
together, with refreshments provided.
Berkeley Square
Each bungalow has a large, open plan living and dining
area with separate kitchen. There are two styles of
bedroom, one slightly larger and the other with doors
out to the enclosed garden. Residents are encouraged
to bring posters, photographs and small items of
furniture to make their room feel like home.

Delicious menus
Friends and family
Enjoying food is an important part of life. Our chefs
create well crafted menus made with the freshest
ingredients, and each day’s menu is posted in large,
clear type on display boards in the dining rooms.
Whilst we provide round-the-clock care, friends and
family remain a very important part of life. So we
encourage their involvement with all aspects of life,
including activities and community events. There’s
plenty of space for spending time together, and we
ensure that you have the privacy you need.
Personalised dietary care
As part of the planning for a new resident to come
and stay with us, we discuss their personal preferences
and dietary needs with them. We cater for a wide
range of dietary issues, including food intolerances,
cholesterol reduction, and difficulty with chewing
or swallowing.
Dining companionship
Residents can choose to dine in their room, or to
join others in the spacious dining room. Friends and
relatives are always welcome.
Out-of-hours snacks
We offer a Night Bite menu between 7pm and 7am for
residents who like a snack outside of normal kitchen
hours. This includes fruit, sandwiches, cereals, yoghurts
and hot or cold drinks.
Living actively as part of
the wider community
Activities
Keeping minds active and stimulated is something
we value highly at Berkeley House. There’s a great
choice of activities including crafts, quizzes and games,
cooking and painting.
At Berkeley Square we encourage independence where
possible. If there are opportunities for paid work we
encourage and support residents to help them live as
independently as possible.

Superb care for everyone
We have care homes across the UK, which are all
run by experienced managers and their teams.
Our aim is for every resident to continue their
daily lives with privacy and dignity within
a safe, caring environment.
The highest standards of care
We are regulated by the care regulator, the
Care Quality Commission (CQC). This helps us
to identify what we’re doing well and where we
can make improvements. We are committed to
providing excellent care and constantly strive to
exceed the expectations of the CQC.
Financing care
You don’t need to have our health insurance to
benefit from our care. Every resident is different,
so our fees vary, but our prices cover single
private rooms with 24-hour care, all meals and
laundry. There are additional charges for some
services; our home manager can give you more
details. How much you need to contribute will
depend on the type of care needed and the
amount of capital available.
