The On Campus Experience
Rowan University features eight
residence halls and six apartment
communities nestled among the
trees of a 200 acre campus in
historic Glassboro, New Jersey.
University and affiliated residences
provide easy access to campus
resources, recreational facilities and
social opportunities.
Students who live on campus benefit
from facilities and resources that
support students’ success during
their first year and throughout their
four year experience. Research and
experience tells us that students
who live on campus...
• Develop a greater sense of belonging.
• Find it easier to form friendships.
• Participate more in student
organizations.
• Develop stronger connections to
faculty.
• Increase their awareness of diversity.
• Are more likely to complete a degree in
4 yrs.

Housing Options
Freshmen are housed in one of eight traditional residence halls on
campus. Each residence hall features suites of triple, double and
single occupancy rooms. Each suite shares a common bathroom. All
residence halls are co-ed with single gender suites. In addition, every
residence hall has a common lounge, and most halls provide additional
recreational spaces.
Upperclassmen, transfer and graduate students are assigned to either
residence hall or apartment spaces. Spaces may be single or double
occupancy. Bathrooms are usually shared by two to six students. All
apartment buildings are co-ed.
All spaces are fully furnished with an extra-long twin bed, dresser, desk
and closet or wardrobe space for each student. In triples, 3 students
share 1 closet or wardrobe. Most rooms are carpeted. Non-carpeted
rooms may be requested on a space available basis. Air-conditioning is
standard in all apartments except Triad (first floor only). Residence halls
are not air-conditioned. Internet as well as local phone and basic cable
services are included in all housing options.
Staff
A staff of trained and dedicated Resident Assistants, Resident Directors
and Residential Learning Coordinators live and work in each residence
hall and apartment complex. The staff are there to help residents
live successfully in the university environment and promote the
development of a safe, supportive and inclusive community.
Application Process
All new students are encouraged to apply for housing as soon
as possible upon acceptance to the University. All housing
applications are completed online:
rowan.edu/selfservice
Click on “Access Banner Services” and log in. Then click on
“Students” - “MyHousing,” and then “Apply Online.” Select the
“Freshman Application” or “Transfer Application” as appropriate.
Co-Curricular Programs & Learning Communities
First-year students quickly discover that their residence is more
than just a place to study and sleep. A wide array of co-curricular
programs are provided on campus to extend learning beyond
the classroom as well as provide social, cultural and recreational
activities. Freshman residence halls are also home to livinglearning and themed housing communities that link students to
their major or to other students with common interests to promote
student academic success and persistence to graduation.
Availability of On-Campus Housing
The university requires freshmen and sophomores to live oncampus unless they apply and qualify for an exemption. Housing
for juniors and seniors, including transfer students, is assigned on
a space available basis, and is not guaranteed.
