3.65 CEREC Connect Manual Export Preparation: Acquire an image looking straight down on the prep area. Also need to image two full teeth distal or mesial of the prep so we can use this information to stitch with the image in the buccal folder. Buccal: Only 1 image needed in this folder. Need to image the two teeth distal or mesial of the prep. Do not image any of the prep area in this image. Antagonist: These are images of the opposing arch. Take two images distal or mesial of the prep area. The information in this folder also has to be in the buccal folder so the images can stitch together. After clicking on the green arrow once the images have been taken, you will always come to a Manual Correlation step. In this step you will click on the buccal image and line it up with either your antagonist or prep images. In some cases you will need to click and hold at the top or the bottom of the buccal image and as you move to the appropriate model the image will flip so the orientation is correct. pg. 1 3.65 CEREC Connect Manual Export In this example I have clicked at the bottom of the buccal image and dragged in upward. As you can see once the image gets closer to the antagonist model it will begin to flip. Note: You may not always have to flip the image, at times it will already be positioned correctly. Once the image has flipped completely, position the buccal image to line up as close as possible with the corresponding teeth on the antagonist model. pg. 2 3.65 CEREC Connect Manual Export When you have the buccal image positioned over the antagonist release the left mouse button and the software will attempt to stitch the images together. If the stitching is successful the blend in with the antagonist image and display a speckled look. If the alignment of the images is not successful the buccal image will shake a few times and position itself in the middle of the antagonist and prep models for you to try and line it up properly again. At this time it needs to be determined if the images could not stitch because the position of the buccal image was bad or the images are not or there is not enough “like” data for the software to successfully stitch them together. Now that the buccal and antagonist images are stitched together it is time to stitch the buccal image with the preparation images. To accomplish this you must click on the bottom part of the buccal image, you will notice the antagonist model rock a little, now drag the buccal image down to the preparation model and align the buccal image with the preparation image. These do not have to be exact, the closer you can get the models aligned the easier it will be for the software to stitch them together. pg. 3 3.65 CEREC Connect Manual Export Once you have aligned the two images, release the left mouse button and the software will attempt to stitch the models together. If the software is able to align them you will see the speckled area here as well. If the software is not able to stitch the models it will shake the buccal image and it will bring the antagonist model back up to the top of the screen and you will need to retry. Again we will want to examine the images and make sure we have enough “like” information so the software can stitch the models together. Click the green arrow to go forward to the next step. Check Models: To verify the models stitched together properly, in the check models step we want to see an area that is glossy in the area where we stitched the buccal image with the prep and antagonist models. This indicates it was for sure a good stitch. pg. 4 3.65 CEREC Connect Manual Export Trim Preparation: Trim as usual by cutting the distal and mesial neighbors out. (Some offices have had issues with the trim not cutting where the line is, if that occurs often, suggest they draw the trim line in a lasso around the prep area, this seems to work well.) Preparation Margin: Draw the margin as usual. This is the last step before clicking on the Connect button to send. As always, after drawing the line check and make sure it has not fallen off anywhere. Be aware that even though this is the last step before sending, the green arrow will still be active. If you click the arrow it will erase your margin and you will be brought back to the Trim Preparation step. The icon is active in case you are doing a bridge and need to draw more margins. We have asked that this be changed on the next release or service pack. pg. 5 3.65 CEREC Connect Manual Export After drawing the margin, click on Restoration at the top left corner and choose Save.
