Dear New Car Dealer,
Since its inception, the BC SCRAP-IT Program has scrapped over 37,000 vehicle across
the province and issued over $11 million dollars in incentives to customers who purchased
replacement vehicles from new car dealers.
As you are aware, BC SCRAP-IT customers may only purchase replacement vehicles from
Participating Dealerships who have a signed Letter of Understanding on file with our
program.
If your dealership has not signed an MOU with us, or you are unsure and would like to
resubmit one, please feel free to do so. Once the Letter is received, your dealership will be
included on the list of Participating Dealerships (accessible on our website). This usually
takes 2-3 business days.

The BC SCRAP-IT 7 Step Process

A SCRAP-IT customer typically has applied to our program, and will have an
approval email. This email entitles them to the $250 discount (before taxes) at
the time of purchase.
If your customer purchases a new vehicle BEFORE applying to our program you
must read and sign FORM B together with the customer to ensure the old
vehicle qualifies. A copy of this form is provided, but can also be obtained by
emailing us at: [email protected]

Access the online CO2 calculator (www.scrapit.ca) with the customer to
determine the CO2 reduction amount (based on new vehicle specs) and
therefore the amount of the incentive the customer can expect to receive;
please note we double-check all claims.
TIP: If you can’t find a 2014/2015 model in the CO2 calculator, use the same vehicle specs for the
2013/2014 model year (i.e. use the same vehicle, only 1 year older). Then let the customer know
SCRAP-IT will double check the calculation when they make their claim.

Make sure the customer understands that they must go to our website
to complete the online application form with 10 days of their purchase. Make
sure they leave with a copy of FORM B as they are required to fax it to us when
they apply.

The customer will then wait for their approval email (typically 2 business days).

The customer can then claim their incentive, or scrap their car – those two
steps can be done in any order.

Once we receive a complete claim from the customer and confirm that the
vehicle has been scrapped, we will issue a cheque. The service standard for
cheques is 4-6 weeks in the lower mainland, 6-8 weeks outside the lower
mainland (although typically our average is 3-4 weeks).

Dealership Agrees That:
1. It is a member in good standing of the New Car Dealers Association of BC.
2. It will participate in and follow all the rules and procedures of the BC SCRAP-IT
Program.
3. It will provide to each customer, who presents a formal BC SCRAP-IT Program
Approval Email (or who completes a FORM B at the dealership), with an additional
discount of $250 toward the purchase of a 2008 or newer car.
4. It will provide the $250 discount before taxes.
