Groups
Beginner Level 1
age 4 - age 6
This level is for smaller younger kids who are just learning to swim. These kids will be taught basic safety skills and water
orientation skills. In this level the kids will be taught to streamline with their face down in the water and will learn how to
breathe while prone. Other skills include streamlining with support, kicking with support, back float with support, jumping
or reaching into the pool with support, calling 911, open water safety, and swimming pool environment safety.
Beginner Level 2
up to age 8
This level is for kids who are just learning to swim with minimal support. These kids will be taught basic safety skills and
water orientation skills. In this level the kids will be taught to streamline with their face down in the water and will learn
how to breathe will prone. Other skills include streamlining with minimal support, kicking with minimal support, back float
with minimal support, jumping or reaching into the pool with minimal support, first aid principles, calling 911, open water
safety, and swimming pool environment safety.
Intermediate Level 3
up to age 10
This level is for kids who are able to swim with minimal or no support for short distances. These kids will be taught basic
safety skills and water orientation skills. In this level the kids will be expected to streamline with face down without assistance for 3 meters and continue with rhythmic breathing for 20 meters. Other skills include streamlining on back without
support, kicking continuously for 50 meters with minimal support, back crawl for 25 meters, and diving into deep water with
a streamline. Other skills introduced will include front crawl flip turn, breastroke, backstroke streamline, rescue stroke,
swimming hazard identification, what to say when calling 911, and basic first aid principles.
Intermediate Level 4
up to age 12
This level is for kids who are able to swim continuously for 50 meters or more. These kids will be taught safety skills and
advanced water orientation concepts (e.g. open water, water park, swimming pool). Other skills include 200 meter
continuous swim, 100 meter back crawl with at least one flip turn, 100 individual medley strokes, object retrieval from
deep water, shallow water rescue principles, what to say when calling 911, and basic first aid skills.
Advanced Level 5
up to age 10 or older
This level is for kids who are able to swim continuously for 100 meters or more with short rest breaks. These kids will be taught
advanced swimming skills for all strokes and turns. To advance from this level, swimmers should be able to swim all four
strokes proficiently for 100 or more meters with minimal rest breaks. Other skills include 400 meter continuous swim, 200
meter back crawl with flip turns, 100 individual medley with correct turns, stride jump, reaching assist, CPR principles, and
basic first aid knowledge.
Advanced Level 6
up to age 10 or older
This level is for kids who are able to swim repeats of 200 meters or more with rest breaks. These kids will be expected to
perform advanced swimming skills for all strokes and turns. Other skills include Racing starts, 400 meter continuous swim, 200
meter back crawl with flip turns, 200 individual medley with correct turns, stride jump, spinal stabilization, CPR principles, and
basic first aid skills.
