Genuine clay plain tiles help to blend new or renovated buidings
with local architecture and contribute to increase the real estate
value. They also bring incomparable rhythm and volume to the roof,
thanks to their slight camber. These traditional shapes are also
appreciated because they block water ingress by capillarity.
As the European leader in plain tiles, Terreal is able to answer to
all the specifications of this traditional market.

PLAIN TILE
Mixing Colours
Mixing Colours
Mixing several colours of the same plain tile model results in unique,
original and rustic roofs.
For even more sophisticated results, you can mix, in addition to colours,
different tile models of different thicknesses. For example, for tiles
of size 170 x 270 mm:
• Priory and Rustique models
• Grand Cru and Éminence models
• Grand Cru, Priory and Pommard models
• etc.
Mixing Techniques
1 Choose your tile model or models, respecting regional traditions.
2 Define the proportions of the colours to mix:
• The dominant colour must represent 50% to 85% of the total number of tiles, depending on the environment.
• The additional colours composing the mix-match either brighten or darken the general picture.
Proportions decrease (for instance 65%, 35%, 5%), and initiate the tone differences in tones observed
with rustic tiles.
3 Present a sample to the customer for validation.
4 Load the tiles onto the roof respecting the validated proportions, and lay them at random. Regularly check
that no “checkboard effect” appears.
5 Accessories are preferably chosen of the dominant colour of the mix.

The Rustic Look
of Old Roofs.
PLAIN TILE
Available in a wide range of aged
colours, the Bocage tile reflects
all the shades of ancient roofs typical
of South Western France. Its aspect
becomes even more rustic for models
with an irregular gauge.
26
Easy to Lay.
Thanks to its large size
(200 x 300 mm), the Bocage
tile is fast to install. Its holding
bar that spans across
the underside of the tile makes
it very stable, even after cuting.
ARCHITECT’S SPECIFICATION
The tiles will be plain, extruded clay plain tiles,
with the following format:
• Size: 200 x 300 mm.
• 43 to 48 tiles per sq.m. depending
on the overlap: 70 to 90 mm.
• With a full-width holding bar on the underside
to facilitate laying at singular points.

Colour: Dark Slate
The Élysée Lambert is an innovative
product offering an excellent quality/price
ratio. It comes in four shades, including
the exclusive through-coloured Dark Slate.
As well as being truly modern, the Élysée
will perfectly adapt to traditional buildings.
Geometrically regular and always reliable,
Traditional Camber.
The Élysée tile is slightly cambered
both laterally and longitudinally,
thus conserving the traditional
appearance of fine plain tiles.
Its profile also prevents water from
coming up by capillary action,
thereby ensuring perfect weathertightness, even at low pitches.
Even Dimensions.
The Élysée tile is individually
fired to ensure absolute flatness
and excellent geometry.
Its large economical size will go
unnoticed thanks to the evenness
between the overlapping surface
and the exposed one.
it is quickly fitted on the roof thanks
to its large and economical format:
270 x 350 mm.
Aesthetically, the Élysée preserves the
proportions of a true plain tile, in particular thanks to the elegance of its thin

bottom-edge.

The irregular gauge and the thickness
of the tile let its colour shades stand
out. The mix of various “speckled” tones
create rich and bright roof covers,
that will perfectly match with historical
buildings.
A Technical Reference.
In addition to its robustness,
this tile offers two nailing holes

underside that guarantee a
perfectly stable installation.
ARCHITECT’S SPECIFICATION
The tiles will be extruded clay plain tiles,

Colour: Slate Sandfaced
Made from clay of exceptional quality,
the Pommard Lambert is a thick and cross
cambered roof tile. Ideal for the renovation
of older roofs, its rustic aspect is well
suited for traditional residences as well
as for the demands of more modern
constructions.
Shape and Thickness.
PLAIN TILE
Thick, robust, with a very rustic
aspect. Slight convex across,
it stops water ingress.
50
Bright Sandfaced
Colour-Shades.
For new or renovated
constructions, Pommard’s three
carefully elaborated sandfaced
colours faithfully reproduce aged
ancient tiles.
Its sandfaced colours are the result of a
blending of various pigments, inspired
by the many light reflection effects and
harmonious colours seen on ancient roofs.

Robust and Technical.
Easy to lay with its large size
(200 x 300 mm), the Ségala tile
is very stable thanks to a holding
bar spanning across the underside
of the tile, opening the possibility
of complex roof designs.
ARCHITECT’S SPECIFICATION
The tiles will be extruded clay plain tiles,
with the following format:
• Size: 200 x 300 mm.
• 43 to 48 tiles per sq.m. depending on
the overlap: 70 to 90 mm.
• With a full-width holding bar on the underside
to facilitate laying at singular points.

PLAIN TILE
With its slightly convex shape,
the Sologne tile offers curves that
underline its shades and colours.
The holding bar spanning across
the underside of the tile provides
a great stability and allows to create
the most complex roof designs.
ARCHITECT’S SPECIFICATION
The tiles will be pressed clay plain tiles,
with the following format:
• Size: 170 x 280 mm.
• 56 to 62 tiles per sq.m. depending
on the overlap: 70 to 90 mm.
• Thickness: 12 mm.
• With a full-width holding bar on the underside
to facilitate laying at singular points.
Harmonious Colours.
The new Flamed Kings’ Valley
now completes Sologne’s colour
range. These shaded and bright
colours can also be mixed
to create elegant combinations.
