EXPRESSING POSSESSION WITH “TENER”, POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES AND POSSESSIVE “DE”. GIVING DATES. ENDURING UNDERSTANDING(S): Using “tener” to describe family members and people in families. Each culture has different way of forming large numbers. Expressing possession without using (‘s) and instead the preposition “de”. Each culture has its own way of writing the date including the date ESSENTIAL QUESTION(S): What is your family like? How do we conjugate the verb “tener”? How do you create numbers until 100? What other ways are there to express possession? What are the possessive adjectives? How do you give the date? LESSON OBJECTIVES PROCEDURES HOMEWORK/ASSIGNMENT 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 3.2, 4.1 MONDAYTSW demonstrate knowledge of vocabulary on the family, possessive “de”, and how “tener” is conjugated. Create 4 definitions using “de”. Share with a partner. Listening: place the names of the people where they belong based on the description. Create a family tree and describe it to a partner: gather the information to draw their partners’ tree. Study for quiz on the family for Wednesday. TUESDAYTSW recognition of possessive adjectives in Spanish. WEDNESDAYTSW recognition and demonstrate knowledge of vocabulary. TSW review vocabulary on numbers and clothes. Give paragraph for students to read in pairs and then create a family tree based on the reading. Teach possessive adjectives and practice with exercises: focus on number and gender agreement. Check for understanding and mistakes. Give quiz on the family. Numbers: review patterns. Play guessing game with numbers. Use high numbers. How much? Complete the prices of clothes: in pairs, students describe each other how much certain items are. Worksheet on tener, possessive de and possessive adjectives. Worksheet on tener, “de” and possessive adjectives: rewrite the sentences. Explain 1st composition of the year: how it is going to be graded: 1st draft in writing. (70%) 2nd draft typed. (30%). Students will work on composition in class. Turn whatever they have completed in class. Study for quiz on “tener”/possessive adjectives tomorrow. Quiz on “tener” and possessive adjectives.
