USA-RS “C” TABULATING TRAINING
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25 & SUNDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2014
To Be held at Lorain Skate World, Lorain, OH
Training Session will be 9 AM to 6 PM
This class will be taught by Dennis Barto USARS “A” tabulator for more than 20 years. Dennis is a
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer with extensive computer operating system and networking
knowledge and Shirley Engle USARS “A” Tabulator for more than 30 years and chief tabulator at most of
the last 20 Great Lakes Regionals.
Objective:
Teach you to be a USARS “C” Tabulator, capable of scoring a local contest, league meet, or assist a “B” tabulator
scoring an invitational contest.
You will be trained to score using both manual and computer based scoring. You will understand how to do meet
forms setup and be the clerk of entry for the meet. You will understand how to ordinal and break ties in scoring.
Sessions:
Must attend all day both days to be eligible to apply for a “C” Commission
Items needed for a tabulator class:
Hold a current USA/RS Amt card or be prepared to apply for one.
Windows based laptop with Windows Vista, 7, 8.0 or 8.1. Windows XP or older laptops recommended. This
computer MUST have current anti-virus software and no current virus or malware problems. USARS software is
not compatible with any Android or Apple product computer or tablet. An extension cord that works with your
laptop power supply to power your computer.
A USB memory stick with at least 4GB open for your use.
Average skill using a Windows based computer. Knowledge in moving files and folders to a new location in the
computer or placing data on a USB memory stick to transfer to another computer. Knowledge in installing
programs to your computer.
One each of a red, green, blue and black PENCIL, a really good eraser. Basic math facts skills.
3 ring notebook or folder to keep hand out material.
Additional Suggested items:
USB keyboard or serious keyboard skill to enter numbers with laptop keyboard. If your laptop has a separate
numeric keypad on the keyboard that will be sufficient. A USB mouse or skill using touchpad or J mouse on laptop.
Optional items:
Printer and connecting cable you will be using to Print score sheets. OR install PDFCreator as a printer in your
computer. PDFCreator is a free program.

The training will be divided into 3 sections.
1. Manual Tabulating and basic information a tabulator should know.
2. USA/RS Official Skate.net Program including how to download and transfer information,
check Amt. Cards, and enter contestants.
3. How to work with the official Tab-W Scoring Program.
A complete CD will be given to you at the end of the program which will have ll of the material and
screens shown with the software included.
