NORTH HALEDON FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY UPCOMING PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES June 2015 Residents of all communities are invited to participate in Speaking About Healing with David Farbman on Tuesday, June 2nd at 1:30 p.m. Farbman will lead a group discussion in which participants will examine issues of healing in their lives. He will talk about the physical, emotional and mental aspects of healing and members of the group will be invited to share information and mutual support. Participants will then learn a method of Healing Meditation and spend a few minutes experiencing a higher vibration of healing and relaxation. A Harvard graduate and Fulbright Scholar, Farbman is a family counselor and yoga instructor. A Tuesday Talks for Seniors presentation, this free event is sponsored by the Friends. Registration is now underway. The Readers Kaffeeklatsch will meet Tuesday, June 9that 1:30 p.m. to discuss Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple. Lorna Noonan will lead the discussion. The Crafty Ladies Club will meet on Tuesday, June 16th at 1:30 p.m. This month’s project will be an indoor herb garden. Under Miss Donna’s guidance, members will decorate terra-cotta pots and then plant parsley and mint. Please register in advance. Registration for the Every Hero Has A Story Summer Program will begin June 17th. Borough school-age children going into grades K-5 are invited to join the Every Hero Has A Story Summer Reading Club which features prizes and special events by professional entertainers. Borough preschool children are invited to attend the Every Hero Has A Story Summer Story Time. Miss Donna will share picture book stories, finger plays, songs and games and make a simple craft with children ages 2-5 (and a parent/caregiver). Both the special events and story time will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, July 1st–August 5th. Funding for program is provided by the Friends. Continued on page 2... Homer is instantly fascinated and begins studying everything he can find on jet and rocket designs. While many of his friends are puzzled by his new obsession, several new friends share his enthusiasm, and with the encouragement of his teacher, Homer and his fellow “Rocket Boys” begin designing and launching their own homemade missiles. Based on a true story, October Sky runs 108 minutes and is rated PG. A Classic Cinema Showcase presentation, this event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Seating is limited, so early registration is recommended. Join Miss Susan for tour of the Thielke Arboretum in Glen Rock on Wednesday, June 24th (weather permitting). We’ll assemble at the library at 10:00 a.m. and drive to the Arboretum where a Thielke volunteer will identify flowers and trees as we Walk ‘n’ Talk. Please wear sturdy sneakers or walking shoes. Water and a snack will be provided. Walk ‘n’ Talk is conducted under the auspices of the Friends. Please register in advance.
