Spheriglass® Solid Glass Microspheres Spacer Application General Characteristics Potters Europe supplies a line of tightly sized solid glass microspheres for use in adhesives to establish bond line thickness in adhesives. The spheres, which have a soda-lime (A) composition, are certified to Hughes standard specifications HMS20-1776B and Raytheon SCGMS-53004; In general, 90% of the product fits within the gradation specified. With crush strength of 30,000 psi (207 Mpa), Potters glass microspheres are incompressible. They are added in small amounts to adhesives and resins to define the bond line thickness. Some cautions are given for a proper storage: • Store micro-spheres containers in dry conditions • Partially used containers should be tightly closed, not left open to the atmospheres for extended periods. • The products are hydroscopic and will tend to agglomerate upon prolonged exposure to moisture and humidity.
