Creating a Fish Bowl
1. START>PROGRAMS>Adobe Illustrator CS3
2. File>New and use these settings:
3. Draw an oval shape filled with a light blue:

4. Draw another oval shape like this:
5. Move it into place for the bottom of the fish bowl.
6. To make the top opening of the fish bowl,
draw an oval shape with a white Fill and light
blue Stroke and place as shown:
7. Draw another oval filled with light blue:

8. Place it on top of the fish bowl. (Go to Object>Arrange>Bring to Front
if necessary.)
9. Select your Pencil Tool.
10. Set your Fill color to a light orange and Stroke color to None.
Either select the light orange on the color Swatch menu or doubleclick the Fill color box and type in the following:

11. Using your Pencil Tool, draw some sand at the bottom of the fish bowl.
Don’t worry if it doesn’t fit the bowl exactly, we will fix that next.
12. Go to View>Zoom In a few times until you can see the sand clearly. Select
the sand with the Black Arrow Selection Tool:
13. The small blue dots are called Points. In Illustrator you can drag on them to
bend the shape. Select your White Arrow Direct Selection Tool. Click on any
Points not quite at the edge of the bowl and pull on them to adjust the sand
shape. There will also be handles you can use to bend too.
Try to pull the sand shape close to the edge of the bowl.

14. Go to View>Zoom Out.
15. Select the sand shape. Go to
Effect>Texture>Grain. Use these settings. Click
OK.
16. Go to Window>Symbol Libraries>Nature.
Add some more sand, grass, and some rocks as shown below:
17. Add some fish of your choice and a shell if you want. To change the
direction of the fish, select the fish, go to Object>Transform>Reflect and just
click OK.
You should have something like this when you are done.
