DUST SUPRESSANT Mag Flocons® Dust Suppressant (Flakes) ll Product Description ll Application Rate Mag Flocons® is a magnesium-chloride-based (47% concentration) dust suppressant. It strips moisture from the air, trapping it at ground level (thus keeping surfaces dust-free). ll Where to Use It The product controls dust on: –– Unpaved surfaces –– Gravel paths and driveways –– Bike paths –– Parking lots –– Golf course pathways –– Tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and campgrounds –– Equestrian centers –– Gravel road repairs –– Other similar surfaces Dust Suppressant The recommended application quantity is 1.0 kg to 1.5 kg per m2. Ideally, apply after light rain or spraying the surface. Quantity may vary depending on certain conditions. Do not apply Mag Flocons on paved surfaces, as they could become slippery. ll Available Sizes The product is available in 20 kg bags. ll Technical Data Chemical Composition Magnesium Chloride (CaCl2) Other salts (NaCl, KCl, CaCl2) Water (H2O) Heavy metals MINIMUM (%) MAXIMUM (%) N/A 47 N/A 2 N/A N/A 51 < 5 mg/kg Other Chemicals Empire formula : MgCl2-6H2O (hexahydrate) Bulk Density : 800 to 900 kg/m3 Water solubility (20 °C) : 167g/100 ml pH : 8.5 (10% solution) and 7.5 (20% solution) Boiling point : 1,412 °C Melting point : 712 °C Appearance : solid, variable in shape, odorless, deliquescent, and white General, WHMIS : non-controlled product, CAS number 7791-18-6 (hexahydrate) ll Storage As magnesium chloride is highly hygroscopic, tightly reseal bag after each use. DE-ICING AGENT Mag Flocons® De-Icing Agent (Flakes) l Product Description Excessive doses may lead to slippery footpaths. When applied at the start of precipitation, magnesium chloride is highly effective in reducing the accumulation of ice and snow. Mag Flocons® is magnesium-chloride-based (47% concentration). The product releases heat upon contact with snow or ice, thus speeding up the melting process. l Available Sizes l Where to Use it The product is available in 20 kg and 1,000 kg bags. The product is used for de-icing – Asphalt and concrete surfaces (more than one year old) l Technical Data Magnesium chloride does not damage asphalt or concrete from a chemical perspective. Snowmelt runoff may seep into porous concrete and freeze again, the pressure of which may lead to the spalling or shrinkage of weak concrete. Magnesium chloride is not recommended for ice removal on concrete surfaces which are less than one year old, on prefabricated concrete steps, on existing concrete masonry surfaces (stone, bricks, mortar joints) with apparent aggregates, or on prefabricated, pre-stressed, flaky, cracked, crumbling or weather-worn concrete. Magnesium chloride is not recommended for de-icing wood or metal surfaces. Avoid all contact with leather items. l Application Rate For best results, clear snow before spreading. The recommended application quantity is 0.07 kg to 0.14 kg per m2. Thick ice may require additional applications. Magnesium chloride flakes are not a hazardous material – the product is safe and easy to use.
