Summer School Math Instructions

Trinity Preparatory School
Steps for Summer School Math
The purpose of taking a math course in the summer is to foster a student’s interest in mathematics and provide a path
by which higher level courses can be completed while still in high school. For students who have completed Algebra I
this year, the best course of action would be to take Trinity’s summer school course in Geometry. You can find
information about this course here. (Insert link to the summer school page and delete this parenthetical)
Other summer courses can be taken either online through Florida Virtual School or another online service or at a high
school or college campus. No Trinity Prep credit will be awarded for the completion of summer courses unless they are
taken here at Trinity Prep, but students may be allowed to advance to a higher course upon successful completion of the
steps listed below. It is important that students follow these steps in order to ensure the greatest opportunity for
success.
Step One: You should be earning a B or higher in your current class and obtain your current teacher’s approval in order
to proceed.
Step Two: Choose a program and receive approval. If you are enrolling in Florida Virtual School, you must choose the
HONORS level course. Mr. Mulloy approves all FLVS courses. For all other programs, you must provide the department
chair with a course curriculum. The department chair will approve your request if the course is appropriate
Step Three: Complete the course work by Friday, August 4. The required grades are listed below. Students who do not
finish by the deadline or do not earn the required grade will not be allowed to advance.

Your final grade for any course taken through FLVS will appear on your transcript according to their policy. Please read
this carefully.
“I acknowledge that during the first 28 days of being activated into my FLVS a course I may drop the course without
penalty. I understand that for each online course there are a minimum number of assignments that must be completed
each week. Failure to submit the minimum number of assignments on a weekly basis will result in my removal from the
course and may result in a failing grade being assigned to my academic transcript. If I drop the course after completing
50% of the class requirements and fail to take the final exam, Florida Virtual School will issue an “F” for my final grade.”
A “WF” will appear on the transcript if student withdraws after 28 days.
An “F” will appear on the transcript if a student completes 50% + of the material but does not take the finish / take the
final exam.
