PERRLA HOW TO ACTIVATE PERRLA FOR APA Our Tutorial Video, Transcribed for you | PERRLA Support Copyright © 2010, PERRLA LLC | All Rights Reserved | http://www.PERRLA.com Page | 1 HOW TO ACTIVATE PERRLA for APA The first time you use PERRLA for APA on your computer, like most software, it will need to be activated. You will have to activate only once on any computer. You will automatically be prompted for this the first time you start a new 6th Edition paper. When you are informed of the need for activation, click OK and you are taken to the activation screen. Enter the email address and password you used when you purchased PERRLA for APA and then select whether this is a Home, Work, or Laptop computer. If your computer is connected to the internet, click on the Activate button and PERRLA for APA will activate for you automatically. If your Automatic Activation is successful, you are done and you’re ready to start working on your paper. Page | 2 If your computer is not connected to the internet or you have problems with the Automatic Activation process, click on the Manual Activation button. The PERRLA for APA software on your computer will generate a 25-character code that you will then enter at our website. Our website will then display a different 25-character key that you must enter into the PERRLA software on your computer to finish the activation. After clicking on the Manual Activation button, you will see a message asking “Do you want to manually activate?”. Page | 3 Click Yes and you will see a screen of instructions. When you click OK you will see the 25-character Activation Send Key. Carefully copy this key down for your next step. It must be exact. As it said in the instructions, there are no Ohs in the 25-character key. Any character that looks like an Oh is a zero. At this time you may exit the PERRLA software. On a computer that is connected to the internet, in your web browser, go to www.perrla.com. You will type this address in the address bar at the top of your browser. Page | 4 At the PERRLA home page, you’ll notice the Login button in the upper-right corner of the page. Click the Login button and the log in web page will be displayed. Enter the email address and password that you registered with us when you purchased our software. If you have forgotten your password, enter your email address and leave the password field empty when you submit the form and we will send your PERRLA password to the email address you’ve entered. Page | 5 After entering your email address and password, click on the Login button. If your login is successful, you will see the My PERRLA Home web page. This is the place on our website where you can maintain your personal information, change your password, update your registered email addresses, download the software, and manually activate the software. At the top of the page, click on the Manual Activation link next to PERRLA for APA. The next screen will have a place to the enter the Activation Send Key that was generated by your PERRLA software. Enter the 25-character Activation Send Key that you copied down earlier and click the Submit button. When you do this, the PERRLA website will immediately generate a 25-character Activation Unlock Key that is specific to you and your computer. The website will also display your Customer ID. Copy down the Activation Unlock Key and your Customer ID. You will need to enter this information into the PERRLA for APA software in order to activate it. Page | 6 Note that this information is also sent to you in an email from [email protected]. As internet email is sometimes delayed or even lost in transit, you should copy down the Activation Unlock Key and Customer ID if you wish to proceed immediately without waiting for an email. Now that you have the information necessary to complete the activation process, start the PERRLA for APA software again by double-clicking the yellow PERRLA pencil icon on your computer desktop. At the menu, click on the button labeled �Start a new 6th Edition PERRLA paper.” You will see the same series of screens that were previously mentioned. On the PERRLA Activation screen, click the Manual Activation button as you did earlier. When asked , “Do you have the Unlock Key that you received from PERRLA?”, click Yes. Page | 7 Here you will see the Activation Send Key and the place to enter your newly-acquired Activation Unlock Key and Customer ID. After entering both, click the OK button. If the information you entered is correct, your activation is complete. If you receive an error message, carefully check the Activation Unlock Key and Customer ID and enter them again. You might also check to see that you had correctly copied and entered the Activation Send Key. If not, repeat the process of Manual Activation with the correct Activation Send Key on the PERRLA website. Page | 8
