As always, all members are warmly invited to attend so the Chamber can express its appreciation for the support received throughout the year. This event also provides an opportunity for member businesses to celebrate the season together. A lighted and temperature-controlled outdoor tent will be provided by Event Rentals by Rothchild. Wonderful food and beverage samplings from across the area are expected. Restaurants, caterers or food vendors are encouraged to contact the Chamber for more information about this fantastic way to showcase their businesses to the average 300 attendees who visit over the course of the evening. At this time, the Chamber is excited to have Abuelo’s: Flavor of Mexico, The Casual Pint – Northshore, The Casual Pint – Farragut, Dixie Lee Wine and Liquors and Mom’s Truffles, plus decorative items by Posh Petal Designs. New participants will be promoted via weekly email, in print and on social media. Guests who wish can also bring a donation for the Chamber’s Giving Tree. This year donations will go to Mission of Hope, whose mission is to bring hope to families in the Appalachian area where poverty and lack of jobs or opportunities is still a very real issue. Much needed items are new warm coats, gloves, hats and socks for children or adults (all sizes), shelf-stable canned or boxed goods and new unwrapped toys for boys and girls of all ages. Spring Auction Sneak Preview! It is never too early to dream of spring weather and it is definitely not too soon to plan on sponsoring the Chamber’s Annual Dinner, Silent and Live Auction! This year’s big event will be hosted the evening of Friday, Apr. 24, 2015 at the beautifully renovated Rothchild’s Catering & Conference Center. Each auction centers on a fun and carefully chosen theme and enjoys an attendance of approximately 275 guests. The Chamber is keeping this year’s theme under wraps for now, but is eagerly seeking spon- sors to take advantage of the great advertising opportunity this event offers! As soon as the Chamber receives the commitment form sponsors are promoted via print media, web, email, social networking and at weekly Chamber events. In recognition of this, the Farragut Business Alliance, in partnership with the Town of Farragut, is kicking off the 8th Annual Shop Farragut Campaign for the holiday season from Nov. 22 through Dec. 31. Residents are encouraged to patronize local vendors for their 2014 holiday needs! In addition to the advertising provided as part of the campaign, including promotion of specific business discounts, coupons and events, the Town will offer registered businesses an extra sign for the campaign period and will waive the $25 special event fee. The restaurant was renowned for its exceptional coffee and pastries. What began as a single shop has blossomed into a world-wide phenomenon with over 11,000 stores in 33 countries, 7 of which are in the Knoxville area alone. Although the company has grown exponentially, it has never strayed from its original goal: to provide great food in a comforting atmosphere. Dunkin Donuts strives to make their customers feel at home and welcome in every shop. Customers are greeted by friendly staff that treats them like family. Campbell Station Road Store Manager, Frank Hancock, believes that the exceptional customer service has been the key to Dunkin Donuts’ 64 years of success. “We take the time to get know our customers,” explains Hancock, “It sets us apart from other businesses, because we truly care about our customers.” However, great customer service alone won’t make a successful doughnut shop; that requires great doughnuts as well. But that isn’t a problem, because Dunkin Donuts is home to the some of the world’s most unique and delicious pastries. The store offers doughnuts in every flavor imaginable, as well as muffins, cookies and even sandwiches. For those who don’t have a sweet tooth, Dunkin Donuts proudly brews over 20 flavors of coffee. In fact, the coffee has become so popular that out of every 100 iced coffees sold worldwide, 52 of those were purchased at a Dunkin Donuts. Their coffee is also available in portable carafes for meetings or gatherings of any kind. Great food and fantastic service make for a combination that just can’t be beat. The company has stayed loyal to this philosophy from the beginning and it has certainly paid off. Farragut and Knoxville residents can visit the 715 Campbell Station Road location and find out for themselves why it is clear that America still “Runs on Dunkin.” TSBDC Are You Remembering High Touch Marketing? by Laura Overstreet, Business Specialist, TN Small Business Development Center Does your business seem to focus on hightech marketing such as Facebook and other social media sites? Don’t forget those on the other end of the mouse pad are real people who like to know you are human. Many small businesses do little to build customer relationships because it takes a lot of time. But keeping a customer long-term is well-worth a few minutes of your time. People don’t always remember what you say, but they always remember how you make them feel. So how do you instill feelings into your communications? One way is to send traditional cards. Here are some ideas: 1. During a networking meeting a business owner met a potential client who mentioned to her that he would love to take a long train ride. She looked up a train ride she knew about nearby, printed images from the website, and wrote “Never give up your dreams” on a note inside a card. After the client gets that card how do you think he will feel? 2. Take a picture of people you meet at conferences and place the images on a card cover. When you get their business card at the event, jot down something you learned about them on the back. Create the card to reflect their personal life. They will remember you for quite a while! High touch takes your networking to a whole new level. Speak to people personally, learn about them, and nurture the relationship. But don’t sell to them the first, or the third time, for that matter. Just enjoy what you’re doing.
