Everyone introduced himself/herself. AE summarized the aim of the project and activities we are going to do during this project. MR introduced himself and Cambridge County Council briefly. All participants did their presentations about what they had done since October. AE gave briefly some info so far what have we done 1.LOCAL INFO SHARING As soon as we were back we informed our head the results of the 1st project meeting Exchanges of staff involved in school education We published our Regio project in our website also in local newspapers. 2.INFORMAL MEETING WITH THE TEACHERS FROM THE PARTNER SCHOOLS Sharing good practice through seminars After we come back from Cambridge we held formal meeting with our local partners’ teachers to share what we had learnt from Chip. 3- TRANSLATIONS OF THE 1ST MEETNG RESULTS TO TURKISH LANGUAGE, AND PUBLICATION IN THE SCHOOLS Especially we discussed How we present the project to schools and continuity for the future Teachers from participating regions were informed about each other’s education system and policies 4- FORTY-FOUR TURKISH FAIRY TALES We sent Turkish traditional stories web site to Chip. http://www.sacred-texts.com/asia/ftft/ 5-DOMAIN AND WEBSITE FOR THE PROJECT. Creating a web portal to share project outcomes, promote good practice and to sustain the outcomes of the project The website of the project will have a "private area" to only 2 partners will be able to access. The partners will be provided with information regarding the news, meetings (the previous one and the next one), materials, evaluation, contact information, mailing lists and videoconference addresses. We formed the official website of the project http://www.regiostorytelling.com/ 6. NETWORKS OF THE PARTICIPATİNG INSTITUTIONS Creation of a mailing list for the project with schools Zeliha talked about the things they had done in their school. 7.SOME CONFERENCES FOR PUPILS To inform them about the objectives of the project To motivate and encourage children to get creative and subsequently improve their literacy skills 8. 30 TEACHERS FOR THE SECOND WORKSHOP Teachers from participating schools to attend in workshops and training sessions were selected and got the offical permission from the governorship. 9. Each partner were responsible 3 dissemination events. SNAIL TALES web site was examined in detail and also facebook page was liked School based story sharing events for whole school, parents and local communities 11. LAST ARRENGEMENTS travel –hotel-restaurant-programme is ok Ramazan talked about storytelling competition they held in Kırsehir. Rachel and Holly presented their works and talked about their students’ attitudes towards stories and storytelling. Laura showed a video and talked about narrative and ownership tests she had applied in her class and compared the results. Afternoon Chip ran a workshop for teachers. In this workshop he summarized the things he had covered in the first meeting. He told the story “ Hansel and Gratel” He gave new techniques apart from narrative and ownership. - Foundations ( e.g Easy language is foundation) - Building up (Enhancing language is building up) There are important aspects in storytelling. - How you use your body, - How you use your voice There are three aspects of voice. Vocal Positions - Epic Voice ( used for kings,heroes etc. – Gandalf) Lyric Voice ( soft voice – Legolas) Witness Voice ( the voice coming from mouth) These three vocal positions are used both while telling different parts of stories and while telling different characters. Vocal Ranges - Humming ( Standard vocal range ) Count up to 7 ( High vocal range – for younger women, little girls, small animals etc. ) Count down from 7 ( Low range – for kings, giants etc. ) Vocal Qualities - Saying “Hi” ( Normal vocal quality ) Nasal Quality ( Talking from nose – Nnyeah! What’s up Doc? For funny characters and annoying characters etc ) Breathy Quality ( Humpry we’re leaving! He welcomed everyone and talked about the importance of stories in Turkish culture. Project group visited the schools participating in the project. Project members visited Vali Mithat Saylam Secondary school and had a school tour. Then, they visited Teachers Bedia-Koksal Guler Primary school, observed a 3rd grade lesson for 10 minutes and had a school tour. Finally they visited 30th August Victory Primary school, observed a science lesson and had a school tour. Afternoon The Project group visited Yusuf Demir Science and Art Center. Chip from Snailtales ran three storytelling sessions for children coming from different schools. Wednesday 15th January Morning AE thanked Chip for his fruitful sessions with Turkish students. Gazanfer and Zeliha talked about students’ feedbacks. They emphasized that it was a great experience for them. Laura offered to set a link between two countries’ students so that they could communicate each other and share stories between them. MR mentioned the impact on children: - Communication skills - Imagination - Creativity - Learning to learn - Social skills The group discussed and fixed the mobilility dates. Chip presented activity plan for the project: Stage 1: All will record the video of students’ conversations. Task 1 : Discuss a topic. Task 2 : Make up a story by using a “story stick” Stage 2 3- Workshops on creativity with children in Peckover. 4- LB lesson plan and workshop. 5- INSET on children’s presentations. 6- Peckover put together a “storytelling bazaar”. 7- Everyone put together a “storytelling bazaar”. 8- Repeat stage 1. Afternoon The visiting group had a guided city tour. Third meeting will be from 24-26th March 2014 in Cambridge
